Hello, this is my first post here on the forum. I have used a fair number of fixed blades for outdoor activities, but I am new to the world of Spyderco folders. I have been needing a good EDC knife, especially for work.
If I am asking noob questions, please bear with me. I have three Spyderco folders. I have a PM2, a Delica 4, and a Matriarch 2. The first two are my main EDC knives. If I can carry the PM2, that's my main knife. I really love the PM2. If I don't want to carry such a big knife, I carry the Delica. The Delica seems to be turning into being my at work knife and the PM2 my out-of-work knife. I also live at the crossroads of four states, so when I travel, I tend to grab the sub-three-inch Delica to make sure I observe the knife laws prudently.
Regarding my Matriarch 2, I decided to do a slight customization to it and added a Wise Men ring. I got the knife apart and back together. I, however, have a few issues that I'd appreciate some advice on.
- One thing I noticed is that Spyderco used blue Loctite on the clip screws and on only one of the handle screws. Is it good to add Loctite to the other screws?
- During the reassembly process, I spilled some Loctite into the knife by accident. I plan to disassemble the knife and clean any spilled Loctite out. I noticed that Spyderco used a lot of lubrication inside. It reminded me of how much grease some gun makers put in a new firearm. I have some Benchmade lubrication oil I can use when assembling it, I'm wondering if it is good to apply a similar amount of lub to the knife's internals? Like the same amount it came with from the factory?
- I do not have any special knife cleaner. Is there any around-the-house cleaners that work well to clean out the inside of a knife?
Any other tips you have or can share, I kindly thank you in advance.
