Fishing has been great lately. Lots of Snapper and Mackerel with an occasional Mahi Mahi and rooster fish. The last few days I have been cleaning with my two new acquisitions...ce Millie and green pm2. I've been trying a very coarse finish on the cts204p to see if I notice any major performance differences. Honestly, I haven't been able to tell a big difference yet. Seems to work great with both a coarse and more refined edge. I'll keep experimenting.

And now for the fun part...today's story, ;). I had a double hook up today on two 50 pound roosters. They hit simultaneously but luckily they went in different directions so I was able to fight em one at a time without crossing lines. I was about a mile out and I felt like they were playing tug-o-war with my kayak. :D. Both fish were jumping and fighting hard. Good times. Here's a pic of one of them...way too much going on to take more shots. No spydie work on these guys...roosters aren't much good for eating so I let em keep swimmin.

Now I have a craving for fish...

It's always great seeing your Salt knives in action Surfingringo. I need to get mine down free diving with me sometime

Thanks for sharing your adventure. Great story and pictures, as always.

Has a fish ever gotten you off balance enough to fall out of the kayak? I had a small bass catch me off guard one time and I almost flipped trying to overcompensate. I took in some water, but I was able to stay afloat... haha.

Surfingringo...I've been waitin on you to get a southfork and report back on it. Also do you have any experience with the H1 version of the enuff? When it comes to the salt series or cleaning fish I tend to look at what you have to say.

Hehe, I don't. Most my knives smell a little like dead fish. :o.

Any updates on that Tusk you have ordered? I'm anxious to see what you make of it...I've held one at my local knife store, and despite how frequently I work with rope I still feel the knife is more suited to a marine environment.

Hi otter. I have the Southfork and am impressed with the knife but I want to give it a lot more use before I give my thoughts on it. Could be a little while since the fish aren't biting so great since I got home. I thought about the enuff but the blade profile is just too different from what I normally use. I did get an atlantic salt recently and "wharnified" it but I still much prefer the belly in my pacific to the straight edge of the atlantic when it comes to fish work.

The tusk is on the way. Hopefully I'll have it next week. :)

I noticed you have a Para 2 among those fishy knives... Does the Para 2 clean up easily after all the blood, guts and fish oil? Does the pivot stay smooth, etc? I'm asking because I might end up dressing out a deer with mine this fall. I normally use a fixed blade, but sometimes I just grab a rifle and take a walk in the woods.

Awesome post as always Gringo.

My fishing consists of bass fishing Lake Ouachita or Lake DeGray in SW Arkansas or float fishing for trout on the White River in North Central Ar. All are great but really pale in comparison to your pics. I always look forward to seeing your fishing posts and those Spyderco knives in action.

Thanks again for sharing

It cleans up just fine. No issues. I wouldn't hesitate to use mine on deer.

I have actually been to all those spots. Grew up in north Louisiana and have relatives in Magnolia and Harrison. I love northern Arkansas! One of the most beautiful areas of the u.s.!

What a small world!! I'll do my best to post some pics of my next fishing trip.

Thanks, good to know.

Nice! I'll wait for your southfork review! The enuff in h1 I wouldn't think would be good for cleaning fish but I'd like I nice utility fixed blade I can get wet and not worry about for some outings.

I haven't actually handled either one but I like the looks and the specs better on the jumpmaster.
