I have given a number of nice Spyderco knives away, as gifts.
This little Dragonfly Salt is for my mechanic. He has taken care of my cars for years. Is always ethical and fair, gives me a break on price, and takes me ahead of others, if my need is great.
He has a new 37 foot center console off shore boat, with twin 300 Yahamas. I have been invited to go fishing next month, out in the Gulf of Mexico, and will give this little beauty to him as a 'boat warming' gift.

That's an appropriate gift.
But that boat! Your mechanic is obviously not giving too many of his customers a break.

Such a thoughtful gift and as a former diesel mechanic I'll say that he'll appreciate this a lot.

I have given a number of Spydercos away. A Captain and a Persian to my inside sales guys and a GB to my best customer. They are always appreciated. My middle daughter got a ss Lava and my youngest recieved an engraved Dragonfly. Maggie(middle daughter)works for the city and always gets caught going through the metal detector with the Lava in her purse. Erin(youngest daughter)uses her dragonfly every day opening and breaking down boxes.

lol, know what you mean. I'll tell you though, that Raymond is an immigrant, is now a Citizen, and is one hard working SOB. 6 days a week, 12 hours a day, year after year. He is factory trained in Diesel, GM, Ford, Alison transmissions, and a host of other certifications.
He rewards loyalty, like many entrepreneurs.

I have given 3 Delicas as gifts and they all three turned normal people into Spyderco lovers. This year I was given the Caly 3.5 that is currently in my pocket as a gift from my father (funny thing is he was one of the ones I gave a Delica too).

This was gifted to me several years ago in Iraq. Not my thing.

Excellent gift, sounds like he really works his tail off to enjoy the things he wants in life.

So far I have gifted a green delica to my girlfriend an ambitious to my dad and a persistence to my step brother. Spydies make great gifts if the shoe fits so to speak.

I have gifted a few spydies, most recently a custom scale'd UKPK however this past Xmas was a Benchmade & Mora Xmas for all my friends I gave knives as gifts and they were ecstatic. One friend in particular received a OD scale/coated blade mini grip and was so happy with it he had to go back out shopping for a gift for me, actually he just gave me my gift about 3 days ago cause he felt he had to get me something more than he did. To bad my kids wernt as happy with their ~40 gifts each as Brian was with his one!

If they wernt quite so much I'd like to be able to give dragonfly's to a few other deserving recipients this coming year, and if I can swing it I have one of my good friends specifically who NEEDS a SE Tasman this spring (I have a Byrd Hawkbill I got in the X just to give him but he really needs the H1)

I've gifted a BUNCH of knives over the years. In fact, I keep a Delica and a Lightweight Manix 2 on hand specifically for that reason. I also keep a Kershaw Leek and a Blur around for the same reason. I give one away, and I immediately replace it.

A few weeks ago I sorta went nuts and opened all my Spyderpacs that had Spydies in them for my son to choose any one he wanted. He fondled a bunch including my Southard, Lum Tanto and LionSpy, then ended up taking a stock S30V Manix 2.

Very nice boat gift indeed! My buddy gave us large Spyderco-style knives as groomsmen gifts, I thought that was pretty cool.

Also, came here to say hello to another Central Floridian :)

I take special pleasure in giving a gift that will get used. I have given two Dragonflies (one black, one white, to a couple as wedding presents), two DF2s, two Manix 2 XLs to old friends going overseas, one Manix (for a cousin who earned Eagle Scout), eight Endura 4s and a Delica 4 (my LTs, 1SGs, and MSGs when I was a commander and two for my commander and CSM when I left command), three Natives (two pink, one black) to girlfriends and one black one to a former boss, two Endura SS (old ones with the AUS-6 blades) to an instructor and a Corpsman friend before their respective deployments, a PS Endura 4 to my cousin and, most recently, a DF Tattoo and a standard DF2 to my sister and her new husband for Christmas. All but three have been engraved and all but a handful were purchased from the same vendor.

People love them and I've made knife carriers out of a few who weren't before. One of those knives is buried with a friend who didn't make it home. His wife said he was carrying it when he died.
