When they designed the Resilience. As a big knife guy, I have tried a bunch of designs, the Endura, the Military, the Caribbean, the Shaman, the Native Chief, the Police 4, The Pacific Salt and Pac Salt 2, the YoJumbo, and when it comes down to the balance of all factors (ease of carry, deployment, ergonomics, cutting ability, strength, aesthetics, etc.), I truly can't say that any single one of those other knives even comes close to the Resilience. The only thing the Resilience is missing is a little bit more edge retention, and fair bit more corrosion Resistance.

SPYDERCO, MAY I REQUEST A RESILIENCE IN LC200N with LC200N LINERS!

Yes, all caps means yelling, and that what this is. Not angry yelling, but yelling from the rooftops.

Please make this knife. If you do, I will buy five of them on the first run.

Please chime in here if you'd also like to see this powerhouse design offered in the fine, fine nitrogen steel (and with American G10).

The steel is the only thing that's kept me from trying the Resilience, and I'm a sucker for anything Salt. I'm in. :D

Your posts lately has caused me to start looking at the budget line more closely.

If they were in 14c28n I would have multiples of all the models. I just personally haven’t had great experiences with 8cr13mov so it’s kept me from purchasing.

Your posts have started to pique my interest though!

Are you willing to pay five times as much for it? You'll also have to wait a couple of years to get it into the production que in Golden since the current maker has zero experience with working nitrogen steels and from what Sal has said before, little interest in learning.

That's funny! But I think we should keep it real. Knifecenter has the Caribbean at 182, which is just over three times what they have the Resilience at. And from list of knives I mentioned I have owned, you already know I'm willing to pay good money for a good knife.

Whenever they drop that knife, I'll pick it up.

8Cr has been good to me, but this summer I am outside more, and I am learning the corrosion resistance deficit that I never experienced with it before in my southern Canadian climate.

And the Resilience is a modder's playground:

Hi David Mary,

One of Eric's better designs. The maker is cooperating. LC a stretch though.

sal

Hi Sal, thank you for popping in and giving a heads up. Eric's design, eh? It was the second folding knife I ever bought, after the Manix 2 XL, and to this day, it stands as the design that I keep falling back on again and again no matter how many other knives come and go. I have owned nearly 10 Resiliences by now, and still own the five above.

If not LC, is there another steel that might make its way into the knife, or the overall lineup? 14C28N at 61-62 would be pretty amazing. And I often wonder why the Resilience hasn't seen the same kind of variety in release as the Tenacious, what with different colored scales, black oxide blades and such. Could that be a possibility in the future?

Yes, the Resilience is a fantastic knife. I'd love to see something like it offered with a different lock and steel, so I will start the long journey of designing one myself, and maybe one day it will be a good enough design to draw buyers, and be worth the time of Spyderco to consider making it.

I have started the discussion in my subforum.

I have several Spyderco knives aswell and like you i like that big bad ass Rezzi...
When i cant carry a firearm i carry a bigger knife. Resilience(I own 2)is a joy to carry. I’m good with the cheap steel as i’m not using it to cut up cardboard all day at work i use the company’s safety knife for that.
Price point will have me sharpening and using more oil but i’m ok with that.
Could i see it in BD1 or even S30V? Maybe.
Only thing i hate is The Made in China but that’s for another thread.
Thanks for all the great knives!
