anyone here have a spyderco kris? i`d like to hear anything you have to say about it , even if you don`t have one.

Quality, fit and finish of the Ed Schempp Kris are equal to that of his other Spyderco designs. Arguably the most sensual of his three incredibly "sexy" looking knives. Grip is almost identical to that of the C83 Persian, allowing a rock solid 4 finger grip for all but the largest of hands. But, unlike the Persian, the Kris has a pronounced hump in the spine. I find that hump aids control in certain grips, but presses uncomfortably against my thumb in others. That hump is one reason I have not really carried mine. The primary reason is because I'm very lazy and prefer the ease of sharpening a straight or simple convex edge provides.

Final point to consider is that the shape and grind of the spine would make it difficult, or at least very uncomfortable, to perform any task that required pressing down on the spine with the palm of your hand.

if i bought one i wouldn`t be using it to do any cutting anyway. i just want one , and as soon as i can afford it i`ll buy one.

I want one, too. But, as Deacon (and many others I've spoken to) pointed out, the handle is much like the Persian, which did not fit my "big" hands. That's really too bad, as I love the Kris blade!

I bougth a Kris after I got a chance to hold one. Due to its shape the handle of the Kris fits my hand better than the handle of the Persian which is almost too small for me. The action was very stiff at first but improved in time. A minor remaining problem is that due to the size of the hole and the shape of the bolster opening the Kris is not quite as straigthforward as opening other models and if your thumb slips the knife can close on the tips of your fingers.
