Hi all, one of the guys that I work with, signed up for a pass around of the Lava. He recieved it on Friday and I got my first look at it today. I am not much of a reviewer. but here are my thoughts and a few pictures.
It is small. The blade is even smaller than I thought it was going to be. BUT, after using the small but mighty SubcomF, for the last several months, I have come to realize that there is certainly ALOT of uses for a knife this size!! It fits my hand like it was made for it. The picture is a bit fuzzy, but the knife just melts into my hand!
It is stiff, but that will loosen up after some use.
It almost dissapears in your pocket. No sharp edges to grab your hand when putting them in your pocket. Fit and finish is very very good.
I am going to be real honest here(). I have seen quite a few pictures of this knife now and really was not sure I was going to like it. Sorry Chad. It was not until after actually holding it in my hands and putting it in my pocket, that I have decided that, I WILL be getting one!! It is a great little cutter and a great little big knife. I do want one now!! I really screwed up by not getting one of the forums knives.
Awesome job Chad!! You should be very very proud, AGAIN!!
Here are some pics. Sorry for the fuzzy one.

Nice pic & review, Ron!

When the hell are the forum mods gonna arrive?????????? :grumpy:

I always wondered why Spyderco didn't use that kind of handle on more of their knives.

Well, it seems expensive even compared to Spyderco's own offerings. I bought a G10, BB lock S30V Dodo for 70....

It is really attractive and looks extremely comfortable, to its credit, but I think this one just isn't going to make the list for this year.

I just ordered one from Newgraham who has it on sale. I had never heard of this model and when I saw it I thought it might be a fun little knife. I like the fact that it's a small knife, but with a nice wide blade. It looks like an excellent slicer that would work well for opening packages, and other general cutting tasks.

WadeF, I do not believe that you will be disappointed. The Lava is a sweet little knife.
Here are acouple more pics for you.

Why 'o' why do I keep coming over here to this Spyderco forum,:eek:A flat grind small Spydie:eek: (opens up wallet and yet again, pulls out C.C. and calls knife dealer! (might as well be drug dealer!:D )

Thanks for the pictures! :) You made me feel even better about my purchase, and more excited to open it up on Christmas morning.

This is one of the knives by Spyderco that actually holding it in your hand the only real way to appreciate it. This knife is fairly small, but locks very securely in your hand. It feels so natural there. Chad did an awesome job in designing it. It is small, but it will do big things!!
