As an aside, I've read a lot of mixed feelings about the Leafstorm.. namely one issue that came up time and time again was the feel in hand/ergos of the knife. I have small asian hands so the Leafstorm is comfortable for me, but I can see why people with larger hands would disagree.

Anyway, I did this dye job because the novelty of the natural/translucent/almost booger-like G10 color wore off after carrying it.. and the rest of my gear is black, so I wanted it to fit in a little more. What's cool is that under light it's still partially translucent. The scale remains smooth, which adds to the minimal aesthetic, as opposed to those nice but rather pricey WilkinsGrips.

I'm pretty satisfied. If I could do it over, I might have done it a little lighter/clearer.

Thanks for looking, and please check out my blog at http://everydaycarry.tumblr.com for other updates :)

EDIT: the knife is translucent in sunlight still!

i don't think i would like the ergos on that, but it sure does look awesome after that dyeing:thumbup:

That dye job turned out VERY nice. Looks really clean, and RIT wears pretty well from what I understand. That being said, the vast majority of Spydies have black handles and I really thought the natural g10 of the Leafstorm was one of the really cool things about the knife. It made it seem original. Still, very good job with that slab.

Thanks. Yeah, the dye job is holding up nicely.

To be honest I didn't want it to be entirely black, I wanted something like a dark translucent gray/black. My favorite part of the natural G10 was the translucence, but my least favorite was the unsightly green color it could get. It only really looks clear in photographs with weird white balances. This dye job retained the translucence and made it black which matches the rest of my gear for a more cohesive look. I really did like the natural g10 color, but I don't regret dyeing it, black no less. :)

I agree with jonnymac44 but I can also sympathize with wanting to change the knife to your liking.
I'm surprised the dye job turned out so well , I tried it twice and both times failed miserably for some reason. I cant recall which knife I tried it on now though....

Anyway good job :)
