A duck's life that is. We were lake fishing in Mexico last month and the water was riddled with Tilapia nets. On the second day we ran across this little guy. He was completely entangled and was so exhausted he could barely move. Things were looking pretty grim for our feathered friend until I pulled the lil Matriarch out. :D Sometimes you just happen to be carrying the exact knife that you need. This was one of those days. Lucky duck!

Never leave home without a good sharp knife.
Daffy there was sure glad I brought one. ;) The day after the duck incident I got a brand new lure hung up in one of the same kinds of nets about 10 feet deep. I jumped off the boat wearing nothing but my birthday suit and that same lil Matriarch. So officially that knife saved a duck AND a lure that week. If only it could have saved my pride! :p hehe

At the end of the vid that duck looked that Lil' Mutha right in the Spydie eye in confused appreciation!
Good karma on ya!

That is pretty damn heroic.

Next time someone asks "Why do you carry a knife?", you can say "To save ducks." :)

Lucky duck indeed.

Like the looks of the folder too!

Well for me it just saved the day. ;) Used my Lil' Matriarch to harvest some mint for a mint julep. :D

I had a similar experience to yours with the duck. We have a small lake for boating and catch-and-release fishing. There's a fringe of bushes and trees by the trail around the lake. I heard a bird in distress one day and saw it was tangled in fishing line, partly wrapped around its wings and legs, and tying it to the branches.

I had a Vaquero Grande with me, long enough to reach the bird, and slice away at the line, finally freeing it. It fluttered to the ground and ran deeper into the bushes, not seriously injured. Hooray!

I was properly dressed for the occasion, though.

You are good man and your knife now has a special story attached to it.
