Haven't heard much about this knife at all, which is a surprise cause I love it! I bought mine a few months back and haven't been able to put it down. It's so small and compact, but cuts through stuff like a larger knife. I use it for the occasional mesh cutting job at work and use it to cut up rags when I work on the family cars. It's been rock solid throughout. Carry wise, it usually sits in my back right pocket or in my front right pocket when I'm at work.

As for the whole "defensive knife debate", I can't speak on experience...and I hope to never have to. I don't really carry knives for self-defense, but all the same, the Lil Matriarch is usually the knife I'll grab when I take the garbage out late at night. I don't live in a bad part of town and I usually take my 65 lb poodle with me, but it's still reassuring for me to look at that S-curve blade and know it could, theoretically, do some damage if the crap hit the fan. My little sisters call it "the anti-rape knife", which is actually 100% true considering the original Matriarch's history. + 1 to little sisters' right? :D

Below is a picture of mine:

Anybody else have experience with this blade? Also, do you think Spyderco might make some more colors like the Delica line? I'd love to collect more of these lil guys!

I've always been interested in trying this one out, it would be perfect in my opinion if it had a wave.

More colours is a great idea.
My wife has a blue Delica, and I'm sure she'd like one of these in blue or purple.

My teenage sister complains that all I do is buy knives for msyelf and that if I really care about her I'd buy one that she could use against rapists. She was half-joking, but it got me thinking that a purple or pink Lil' Matriarch would be a nifty present for a sister or girlfriend or wife. I wonder if anybody has swapped out the stock handles for a Delica's. Shouldn't be too difficult, other than it voiding the warranty.

I've done it. It is interchangeable with a Delica 4, you just need to make sure to use the lock bar that comes with the Lil Matriarch. The blade locking notch is a little different than the Delica's. I also changed the clip to a chrome one. I always thought the black clips just did not go with the colored Delicas and Enduras. Sorry for the crappy photo...

I've built a few franken-delica's and even when just swapping parts between Delica's alone you always have to keep the lock bar with the blade it came with, that's not a delica vs. matriarch thing. The blade/lock bar are matched parts and only work in their original config.

Thanks for the write up. I've been watching this one for some time and now it has moved to the top of the list. That blue one looks awesome!

Thanks again
Stig

Thanks for the review; I've been debating on this one for awhile and it looks like a winner, especially if the scales are interchangeable with the Delica 4.

Nice I have the M2 and the Endura I'd like to swap out , I think your spot on with the clip issue too .
The black goes well with the black but the coloured models are better suited to stainless clips.
The black ones wear quite quick , a great blade on this beastie indeed must get the lil when I can .

Lil is on my list as well. Carrying an M2 as i write this. Just remember these blades are actually for SD and not utility. Thats why i have A Delica with me as well.
