Now I know this knife's lock would fail if a tank ran over the knife, hit it like a baseball, dropped from a mile in the sky, or stabbing concrete but this is a great knife! I don't care that people don't like it because the lock fails when you don't use it for cutting like spine whacks. It's sad people resort to wanting a folder that's as strong or stronger than a fixed blade but don't want a fixed blade. I went out on a limb and paid a little more for a knife but I have no regrets. has anyone else ventured away from those kinds of people that worry about locks and weight so much to buy a knife? And I'd Ike to hear your experience with this knife as well. Thank you

I have the XL version in S30V. Sharpens nicely on Edgepro. I was afraid it would be hard to sharpen, but it polished up nicely finishing with Chosera 10k.

Nice sir! I liked the manix xl but the price shifted me away. Plus it's big and I already have skidish people when I use a knife. I've always liked the manix and it really caught my eye when I saw it was coming out in cpm-s30v. I bought a orange delica 4 ffg and was disappointed when the edge was poorly ground. I was hoping my manix came with a good edge bcuz I'd hate to have to reprofile yet another new spyderco but it came with a good edge and the upgraded steel. It's my last knife for a long while hopefully so I went and got a knife I wouldn't need to have to upgrade for something better haha.

I have a sprint run Manix 2 in Carpenter CTS-BD30P. Very similar, though maybe a bit better in edge retention performance to that of S30V.

I'm not interested in "lock strength". I am intensely interested in "lock reliability".

Most locks don't fail due to the lock breaking. They fail because they accidentally disengage.

Accidental disengagement is a reliability issue, not a lock strength issue.

The Manix 2 lock is very reliable and will not accidentally disengage.

Haha I know that the locks don't break. I'm just exploiting what people think why a lock fails because it's not strong. Hopefully more people understand about accidental disengagement instead of strength. And I wanted a more expensive knife but not in the sprint run price where if i lost it or was stolen it wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg.

I used my first Manix 2 to do all manner of crap you shouldn't do with your knives - chopping, prying, hammering... It took everything I could throw at it, and I never had a problem with the lock (either disengaging accidentally or becoming too gummed up with sand/sap/lint, etc). I ended up losing that knife in the middle of a field at work one day - that really sucked. :thumbdn:

I've ended up buying four more manixes... Two Orange sprints, a BD30P sprint, and a serrated 154cm one. The design suits me right down to the ground. I'm even a little bummed that they switched away from 154cm in the last year or so - that's one of my favourite steels (not that there's anything wrong with S30V, I just like 154cm better).

I bought mine from amazon. I first noticed they were selling s30v versions from the reviews on the knife. The first one was in early august that I saw someone commented that they recieved an s30v version. And pretty much from then on I would see reviews saying they have the s30v version with occasional people not mentioning it. I waited a little till I bought mine to make sure i would get the upgraded manix. This knife is so smooth to open and close and can practically close by itself when I disengage it. I'm not one to cry about the weight of a knife or how wide it is. If you like something buy it!! CrimsonTideShooter.... Have you thought of doing a review of the kershaw cryo or another knife people are buying these days? Love your videos by the way!
