Hey guys, I'm pretty new to knives ad I've been looking in on getting a folder for camping or backpacking. I noticed nutnfancy's video of manix 2 making it to the elevens, but then I saw a hard use test and the manix lock failed multiple times. Does that video do justice for the knife or would it be a perfect camping folder?

I have a manix2 (CTS-XHP) and I feel the lock is one of the best. I like it more than the compression lock (I know, I've blasphemed). It is a very strong lock, and I have a hard time believing it would fail under normal use. Any lock can fail when misused/abused.

I have been quite pleased with my LW Manix 2. It is a great EDC. The knife takes an excellent edge and is easy to sharpen. It slices very well. And I really like the FRCP handles -- they are quite grippy and comfortable, in addition to being very lightweight.

Different knife, but I'm completely diggin' the Manix 2 XL. Ligh tot medium use to date, no issues. Very comfortable to carry for a large folder.

It's fine as long as you don't expect too much, not in the same league as S30V or even near it, but then it costs a lot less also.

Jim s a voice of authority on this forum. Me, I d get the Manix2 with ffg s30v steel.
