i just received beauty new. However, upon inspection I’m seeing a couple of very small dropouts/cuts on both sides of the carbon fiber cutout for the forefinger.

In reviewing the Spyderco webs site pictures and the seller’s pictures I’m not seeing any edge dropouts on the carbon fiber scales.

I’ve contacted the seller. But I thought I’d ask if anyone out there has seen this? It sort of looks like the carbon fiber edge got chipped during cutting.

Thanks for any thoughts. This knife fits my hand like it was custom made for me. The deployment and lockup are great!

I did talk to them. They are willing to refund or trade out another one. They claim that this is what carbon fiber is apt to do. However, I do have a few other brands with carbon fiber and have not seen this.

I do suspect it is probably due to the pattern of the carbon fiber which kind of reminds me of "orientated strand board plywood". Yes, I had to look that pattern up.

I'm going to consider all options and make a decision tomorrow and update this thread. It is really a neat pattern when it gets some light on it.

If I can figure out how to get a picture hosted on another site, I'll try to share my picture. (to this site).

Minor update. Tried to get a replacement via a return on Amazon. I'm hitting a dead end online. It lets me start the process, only a refund offered. And then it dead ends. I'll call Amazon tomorrow. Sheesh . Still love the knife. When I was on the phone with the seller today they are thinking about offering a PM2 with the same carbon fiber scales. Whoa!
