Spyderco Manix 2 lightweight vs Endura 4 flatground

I like both knives but the manix is made in USA vs the endura which is Japan is there any quality difference. The knife would be used as a EDC knife. thanks for your help.

The Manix is thicker and heavier with steel liners and a caged ball bearing lock. This can feel like more quality to some. I just like it for the smoother opening.

The lightweight gives up the liners and G10 but still opens smoother and closes easier. Flicks open better than the lockback too. Even in FRN the jimping around the handles us more aggressive, though less likely to tear up pockets and hands. Wire clip though, which disguises it as a knife but may make it more difficult to retrieve from a pocket.

The leaf blade is a little tougher I believe, compared to the thinner profile and more sharply or finely pointed Endura.

Hope this helps!

darkangel you are more then right, but it doesn't matter because he is new (almost)to knives,he will be satisfied with the knive(imho)only!!

Can't speak to the Manix, but Endura is a great knife. I don't have experience with the BD-1 steel on the FRN Manix, but the VG-10 on the Endura is a really great steel. I find the Delica is a more EDC-friendly size for me, but if you want something larger, the Endura is a good choice.

VG-10 on the Endura is great..if it legally, here is it not but i carry one and sometimes the Benchmade710..nobody touch me with this stuff i am 52 and they know!!
PS.Nothing is legal to carry here but i live up in the mountains so who cares!!

I was also looking at the delica to because they say that's a good knife to. If the endura is to big for legal carry in CA then it's either manix 2 lightweight or delica.

Oooh, that's a tough one. If it's just for edc, I'd go delica. It packs almost the same cutting edge for a smaller, narrower knife. The Manix lightweight is very easy to carry, but I think the Delica is better, and it is still a very strong knife, more than enough for edc. Plus the delica has a ton of variations, so you can pick one that's perfect

I have had both knives, and they both have their merits. The Manix is INSANELY light, quite possibly the lightest full sized knife easily available. The Endura is light enough to be barely noticeable and takes up very little pocket space. The Manix is a little more expensive, has a lower grade blade steel, and is likely weaker (but upon holding the knife you can tell it is an EDC, not a beater). The Endura is heavier, but has steel liners and a more solid clip. They both make good EDC knives, but the Manix is easily a lighter duty knife than the Endura.

If you need strength, get the Endura. If you need insanely light weight, get the Manix. I had both and liked them both.
