So I was looking around at edc knives and came to a standstill. I know these knives have same steel 154cm but different weights. I jut don't know which one would be better for edc and if 2 or 1.5 ounces will really effect me carrying the heavier spyderco manix 2

Thanks for the advice!

They are both great blades. Manix 2 now comes in s30v and flat grind. I prefer the ergos of the Manix 2. The axis lock is a little easier to use one-handed. I would try them both out if possible but you can't really go wrong.

Yeah, from my experience it is not that great. Doesn't hold an edge as well as the 154cm or s30v. Just my opinion though, some love the lightweight.

both are offered in 154.

To get a better comparioson.
Check out the BM 550. ThumbHole instead of a stud.

I've had both and found myself using the 550 grip
more than the manix2.

I have both. I have several Grips. Some with thumb studs and two with the older oval hole.

I just got a second generation Manix 2 FFG and that's what's been in my pocket.

I like the blade shape of the Manix better. I find it's better for the cutting task I do.

It is heavier. But I don't mind the extra weight. I like the feel of G10 scales better.

You could get both and either sell or send back the one you don't like.

a lot of the reason the grip is lighter is it has plastic handle scales. The manix has full steel liners and g10. The manix is heavier and a bit more rigid but the grip is just as tough so its a tough desicion. Im edcing a large Ritter grip rightnow. Both great knives especially at the pricepoint

I have the Manix 2 Lightweight, and I like CTS BD-1. It takes a very fine polished edge, and the ergonomics are incredible!! Better than my Paramilitary. I don't own a Griptilian (yet), but I'm sure its great also.

I like the flatness of the Manix 2 in the pocket vs the rounded handles of the Griptilian, but for me the Griptilian feels better in the hand. The Axis lock is a little easier to use than the caged ball.
I would definitely go with the 550 over the 551 both because of the blade shape and the hole vs thumbstud.

I guess it really is a close call between them, but for some strange reason I only have one Griptilian 550 and well...
