Spyderco Manix 2 XL blade play... am I just being picky?

Hey guys! I just got my new knife in the other day and been loving it... love the ergonomics, design, and function. Been carrying it as my EDC now for about a week. Anyway, I noticed that it has some blade play (side-to-side) - but its pretty small but definitely noticeable. I tried to tighten up the pivot point on both sides... but its to the point that I don't want to strip the screws and it seems like I will if I keep going. The knife is buttery smooth in opening and closing... is there a simple way to fix this? Just wondering... I'm probably being too picky and this is normal. If so then I'm not gonna mess w/ sending it back to spyderco :) can anyone else here weigh in on this issue?

I do have the full stainless steel liners (if that makes a difference). I'm thinking of backing out the pivot screws and putting them back in again to see if I can get some more torque on them.

The knife has a bushing that the blade rotates about. The bushing can sometimes be slightly wider than the blade so that tightening the screws just tightens down on the shoulders of the bushing. This allows the blade to move freely while being tight. The only way to 'fix' it is to remove the bushing and remove some material from the shoulder. This will allow you to tighten the blade up so it won't move if you remove too much, similar to a normal knife with washers.

If it isn't much play I would leave it alone. A little bit won't hurt anything. Also, taking apart the knife will void your warranty.

Thanks! That's exactly the info i was looking for :-) i may just leave it alone for now.

My Manix 2 and my Para 2 both have very minimal horizontal play. I kind of got over it because I am comforted by the fact that it will NOT increase any further, as is usually the case for "normal" pivots.

My Manix 2 XL, on the other hand, doesn't have any horizontal play, and it is a bit tighter. I can't just release the lock and have the blade go neutral and fall; I have to release the lock and give it a flick for it to fall. So I would rather have a very slight amount of play that won't increase later on anyway.

I got mine in today, it's the new style with the skeleton liners. I also have a good amount of blade play. From all the videos I watched everyone was saying how they had no play so I was a bit worried when I got mine and noticed this. I'm not sure what to do yet. Other than the blade play, this is an AWESOME knife. I love it.

i called them today... they said no problem, just send it in w/ a note and $5 return shipping (which will be sent back upon them finding that it is covered under warranty). I'll keep ya posted if they think i'm being picky or it actually is an issue worth sending it in over. its definitely more play than my para 2. my manix xl didn't have the skeletonized liners but rather the full stainless steel ones.

Please do and let me know what happens. I really don't want to have to send it back, but if they fix or replace it in a timely manner I would like to have this fixed. I'm pretty anal about things of this sort.
Thanks

In had a regular manix 2 with no blade play in any direction then I go the XL skeletonized right out of the box I checked for blade play and it was all over the place especially up and down play and it didn't fell as solid as my other manix.
