As the title says, which do you like better im gonna get one but I wanna get some opinions. I was planning on getting the manix xl but then I came across the caly.

I only have the Manix 2XL, and it's just a beast of a knife. I have no comparison pics for you, that would help I know. The Manix family with the cbbl is really neat. My input would be if you want a HUGE blade, go with the XL. If you want a regular sized EDC, go with the Caly.

This is an old pic, XL is on the top:

For me it would be an edc/self defense blade. When it comes to edc I prefer a larger blade. Like the endura 4. But if hate to get the xl and it be cumbersome. The length is fine but it looks really wide. What is your opinion?

I have the regular size manix 2 (XHP sprint) and I absolutely love it. I also have the caly 3 cf/zdp and love it two, but I like the manix better. You are getting a beefier knife and a stronger lock in the manix.

Yo Mama nailed it. That Manix XL is one BIG knife. The Caly 3.5 is a pleasing little friend that you always have with you. I love Calys, and have 3" and 3.5" in both ZDP-189 steel as well as in SuperBlue. They're both good steels. The Calys are very efficient, and unless you want to chop through 2x4's, you probably don't need the Manix.
BTW, the Spydie SuperLeaf is very similar to the Manix XL, and can be found a lot cheaper...

I have the 2 XL, and I don't like it much. The overall size (L x W) doesn't bother me; but it's too thin, & doesn't feel right in my hand. The CF doesn't help, IMO. I'm hoping that new scales, when I get around to making them, will do the trick - seems like such a shame to have that S90V blade and not be able to use it

I like the Manix 2 XL but rarely carry mine however the Caly 3.5 is my most frequently carried folder. Both are well made and have excellent ergos but the XL just takes up too much additional pocket real estate with little extra in return over the Caly 3.5 to warrant more carry time in my pocket. The much larger and bulkier Manix 2 XL weighs 5.2 oz yet provides just a 3.36" cutting edge. The Caly 3.5 is 3.1 oz. and has a 3.125" cutting edge in a much sleeker package.

So the Manix 2 XL is 67% heavier with the same 3mm blade thickness, yet only has a 7.5% longer cutting edge and does not conceal near as well as the Caly 3.5. What it boils down to me is a little big knife tends to get more pocket time than a big little knife.

edit: I think the Manix 2 XL would be improved with a beefier blade like the 4mm stock on the discontinued Superleaf or better yet make a Superleaf 2.
