So I'm really interested in this knife but I'm having trouble getting some information about it. The newer version does have black blade release studs, as well as milled out liners correct?

Also there is not much i don't like about this knife, but i would prefer a slightly lower ride pocket clip as well as a DLC or coasted blade due to the corrosive things my blades usually contact. Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction of where or who i can contact about these?

thanks
Zach

Yes to first question

Try STR for a low rider clip. I threw the one I got from him for my Gayle Bradley on the M2 XL, and I much prefer it to the stock positioning.

i will thanks, i don't normally have a problem with knife handles sticking out of my pocket. it doesn't bother me. but in my daily travels i like to go more unnoticed. and with the xl manix the factory clips even shows the shinny blade which i don't like so much. it won't prevent me from buying the knife but i will need to replace the clip or make a new one myself

The new version is surprisingly light and thin for it's size. IMHO it is perfect sized. It's not too big at all. I carry a Glock 23 iwb @ 3 o'clock so I don't really notice this knife in my pocket. It does ride a little high, but I think if you did a light sanding job on the clip and painted it matte black it would be a lot less noticeable. Over all one of my favorite knifes to date. Super strong, VERY sharp, holds edge well, and can take a beating for sure.
Great field test video

Here is what it looks like in the pocket.

I love my manix xl. It hasn't left my pocket in a month. The s30v steel shouldn't rust or corrode unless you really neglect it or are really dumb like pouring 16N nitric acid on the blade.

A low ride pocket clip can be had for cheap like stated above. liners are not milled out but the knife is quite light for its size. Feels lighter than my zt561.

i miss my manix 2 xls i've had 2 and sold them both i'll be getting another one soon as soon as i sell something else to fund another

i love my manix 2 xl, IMHO its the best knife ever made watch Blade HQ's test with the knife. I absolutely love the manix. Great steel, strong lock, lightweight big blade. Overall Amazing Knife Million Thumbs Up

Zach, the blade coatings on most knives do nothing to prevent corrosion, they are primarily for "light discipline", think tactical use, you don't want a flashy and shiny blade. The steel is pretty corrosion resistant as is, however, the same steel with a bead blasted finish vs the existing belt/satin finish tends to corrode faster due to the porous surface.

Anoher aspect is that a low rider pocket clip will most always be less secure, it's been my experience anyway with many knives through the years. It's also nice to have some of the knife sticking out of the pocket, as it allows you something to grab onto and pull the knife out. It's not a good feeling to be fumbling around your pockets trying to pull the knife out, especially with gloves.

Yu can pick p a Military or a Para2, same steel, different lock, coated blades for a few dollars more.

The new ones with the black buttons are milled out.

Oops. didn't see that he was asking about a manix 2 xl. I own a manix xl

I believe you were still talking about the same model, but different version. I heard earlier XL had clear cage and solid liner as what you see from the stock photo. Current model has the same design, however, has skeletonized liner but black cage. I personally like the black cage better, and the skeletonized liner is a great improvement.

Thanks for the info on blade finishes. I already own a military and plan on picking up the next sprint run of the para2.

And thanks for the pictures of in the pocket. that pretty much sealed the deal. Manix 2xl is in route to me :)

I thought my ZT0560 was lighter than my Manix 2 XL (full liners) until I weighed them and found out they were both exactly 5.93 ounces. Funny how that is.

Sorry to revive an old thread. but....

Do you have a pic of the GB clip on the Manix 2 xl? Maybe a pic of it on the pocket too?
