Spyderco Manix: advice please

Spyderco Manix Plain Edge CPM S30V Blade G10 Handle Lockback

Hi all, i have kind of settled on this as my first knife purchase. I want a good folder this size about 100$, so this seems perfect

Alternatives to a manix? Oh, maybe a Strider SnG... I can't think of too much else. Your going to really like the Manix. I'd almost say, buy some other cheap knives so you can see how different the Manix feels.

I've gone through a few knives now and I'd definitely say that Manix is the best production folder I own, by far.

The Manix is one of the best knives around, definitely get it. Other knives to consider would be the Benchmade 710, 732 or 520.

The Rat Trap is probably very nice, but it's a liner-lock, and you probably have to wait a few months to actually get it.

Also, you can get the Manix for $110 from knifesite. It's where I got mine.

Yeah the Manix is a great knife you wont regret it! I suggest if you wanted an alternative, the 630 Skirmish. A little bigger, but also awsome!

Hiya! First off, Manix is a great choice. For lock security & heavy duty field use the only ones in the league are Chinook II and SERE 2000.

Drawback is the weight...at 6oz it can really bang your nougats around, particularly with summer shorts on. I wind up EDCing an Endura.

I love the Manix. It's a great cutter and built like a hockey puck. The weight of it doesn't bother me at all when carrying it. It's big though. It takes up a lot of room clipped inside the pocket of my not-so-small sized jeans. For that reason alone, I carry it less than any other folder I own. I use it as a weekend work knife when I carry less stuff in my pockets or I can clip it on my belt. The Al Mar SERE 2000 weighs the same, is slightly shorter and takes up less room in my pocket so I carry it more often. Still, the Manix is probably the strongest folder I've ever used.

Manix is great. You'll love it.

If you are looking for an alternatiwe, I think BM Doug Ritter Griptilian, shuold do the job. But I personally don't like its "plastic" handle.

I am not saing it is better, but they are in the same league - I have both.

I'd go with a D-2 AFCK or an M2 710 in a Benchmade, myself.
