I just discovered this knife and it seems all good: M4 steel, titanium scales, not to big, not to small, light weight, wire clip, Taichun made, ball bearings.... Sounds like a perfect edc...

Any toughts about or experiences with this knife?

That's what I like about the 2, it's similar to my Southard. I have lots of leaf bladed Spydercos so the thinner one is a nice change.

On the Mantra, you can use the Spydie hole to open the blade manually.

Not so on the Mantra 2.

I will be interested by feedbacks and comments on the Mantra
This little knife intrigue me

Spyder hole + m4 looks fine on the paper but I am a little bit skeptical on the frame lock on this knife an dI am not sure about the flipping action

Well they just handed out a dozen for folks who shot the pictures of the next calendar. Probably a few went to members on here who'll post up.

Spyderco sub forum will probably see more comments though.

The Mantra is a great knife. Spyderco fans love the delica, and the Mantra is essentially titanium framelock version of the Delica. Awesome knife and price point for an EDC.

I found already the following:
Framelock seems to good.
Sometimes there is a problem with the flipping action. The ballbearings run on thin steel washers to prevent they work in in the titanium handles. It seems that the factory sometimes overtightend the pivot, pressing the bearings in the steel washers. This damages them, resulting in a not so good flipping action. I don't know if this has been addressed in the factory.
Google for "mantra bearing race" and you will find the topic.

I am really intrigued by this model. I love the size and shape, but am not sold on bearings or flippers. I would love to hear from recent owners about the state of bearing race situation mentioned above.

Love my Mantra. Slim and light but very capable. I like it so much I'm eyeing the Mantra2 as my next purchase...

Something about the profile on the knife is a bit off to me. I would pick the Mantra over the Mantra 2.

Me too!

I've owned my mantra for 6 months or so. Quick deployment not the fastest though, mostly due to a relatively light blade so there isn't that much mass as it swings out. Great grind, nice and thin behind the edge so it's one of the best slicers I've owned. Just my two cents.

Nothing special about either. All spyderco knives are looking the same to me. Spyderco are great knives and I have several.

I've had the Mantra pictured above for about a week now. I'm very happy with it overall. The flipping action seemed a little light at first compared to my ZT 0450 but I think it's improved with use. It's either improved or I've become used to it (IDK) but I have no complaints at this point. The bearings don't seem to be causing any problems. The action is very smooth and is comparable to my 0450. One nice feature of the Mantra is that I'm not restricted to using the flipper tab to deploy the blade. The blade flies out with a light middle finger flick or I can roll the blade out slowly with my thumb if I choose. It's nice to have options.
