Spyderco offered part of a special run of the Matriarch to BF members. These were the grey-handled Matriarchs. The regular model, which is not generally available in North America, is black-handled. IIRC, the price for BF members buying from Spyderco was $60.

I think there were 500 made, with 300 reserved for BF members. Each member was allowed to buy up to three of them, before they ran out.

JD,
Do a search using the word "Matriarch" in the Spyderco forum & you should find all the info you need. BTW, there were still a couple left at the Spyderco Factory Outlet, (800) 828-1925, a few weeks ago when I ordered some other items.

It's a nice knife.Sorta like a compact "Civilian".The Endura shaped handle is a dark shade of grey.It is only about 1/4"shorter than the Civilian blade length, and has a reversable metal clip.Hey Sal, will these be available again?

I just got off the phone with Spyderco, and they said they didn't have any Matriarchs in stock. Is there someone in paticular I should have asked for to get one?

The SFO had them last month, but they may have run out by now. Call the 800 number that Brian gave above.

hi folks, i realy thank each one of you
who took the time to post what they
new, it was a great help! jd

The BladeForum Store also had some "carbon fiber" pattern concealex neck sheaths designed for the BF Matriarch that complemented the grey colored handle. They were done by Mike Sastre, I believe. Very nice combo.

Actually, we still do have them.

Just to make it absolutely clear... BladeForums.com never sold the Matriarch, we only sold the sheath.

Spyderco made a limited run that was offered to the BladeForums.com members, however, they sold them through the Spyderco Factory Outlet, giving first dibs to the members, then selling them to the public.

Please don't read any more into it than that, there was no conspiracy or anything, Spyderco just gave the members a special opportunity at having first crack at a knife.
