In anticipation of getting my Military LH in the mail, I was curious about it's history. From what I could research, at least 3 different steels have been made. Have any improvements have been implemented since the initial launch?

Also, would be interesting to know about all the potential variations..

Recoil has a good picture of some older ones here http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?17820-Military-question&p=190015#post190015

You can see originally there was no lower jimping, then it switched to a different sort than there is now. Also, the clip was originally two screws and straight (versus three and slightly curved now).

I believe all the variations are listed here http://www.spydiewiki.com/index.php?title=C36_Military . I don't believe there are any future variations known for the moment.

The older ones only had one nested liner. They lacked the "comet" shaped one.

The blade stock was slightly thicker and the scales were thinner on the old ones. The second nested liner was added at the time of the BG-42/CF sprint.

Interesting info...was the second nested liner added to improve the strength/durability? I see conflicting reports on weight. Did they change something in the last year?

Most sites seem to list 4.2 oz, but the Spyderco 2013 catalog lists 4.5 oz.
