anyone can give me a quick-guide on how to adjust the pivot when sideway blade-play develops on the Military? i'd say simply screw it tighter so the play disappears, but i've heard that the pivot is eccentric and needs 'specialized and expertise treatment' .......?

If it's just a little side-to-side wobble, then tightening the pivot screw should fix it. If it has vertical play, then the pivot will need adjustment.

Several months ago I acquired a used Spyderco Centofante II and I adjusted the eccentric pivot myself to eliminate the up/down wobble caused by linerlock wear. Be aware that tampering with the eccentric pivot will void the warranty, so if you choose to do so, it's at your own risk. If you're curious to learn how to do it carefully, then here's a thread that can help.
