Hey ya'll I'm looking for a new edc. I was recently at Cabelas and picked up my first becker, a bk16. I also got a chance to handle a spyderco military. I liked it however tip-down carry bugs me. So are there any other folders in the sub-200 price range that are about the same size and use the same quality materials? Also, I'm only interested in made in the USA.

Thanks,

Adamas
Paramilitary 2
ZT 350

I have all of these, except for the Adamas, I traded that a while ago. They are all awesome, tank folders like the Millie. All made in America and all under $200.

I don't say this often about knives but the Spyderco Military really has no comparison unless you want a little smaller and go with the Para Military.

A tough 4.25 oz (4 oz if carbon fiber) knife with a 4" flat ground blade, and a great handle design isn't out there other than the Military.
Its the only knife I carry tip down, but I don't mind it on a large folder like this. IMO its to good a knife to pass on just because of it being tip down. I think you would get used to the tip down on the Military, as I did.

Tip down on the millie is not like tip down on a smaller knife. I've said this before and I'll say it again- tip down is very natural on a military while tip up seems awkward imho.

With the Military, although it works better, you won't care that it's only tip-down. You'll just want to find ways to use and hold it, and you'll end up carrying it anyway. It's just that good.

To me tip up is absolutely required, good news tho, tip-up conversions are simple now using a drill, a clip of your choice and "push-in threaded inserts for plastics" which are a cheap and easy to DIY solution to converting G10 knives clip positions. Check out nccole's thread in the tinkerin section for the exact process shown on a mili.

This  G10 is great. The CF ones are even better. (lighter and stiffer)
