Hi there, I purchased a Spyderco Military recently and I am unsure as to whether or not there is a defect with locking mechanism. The locking liner meets the base of the blade right at the very end extremity. I have owned various other Spyderco knives and liner lock knives and the locking mechanism has always locked at the centre of the blade. Is this normal with the Spyderco Military? I cannot post an attachment to show you what I mean so forgive me for that.

Are you saying that it is locking up all the way over? If so, I would contact Spyderco customer service and ask them if they'd fix it.

No, its locking up on the correct side, but the liner is half covering the end of the base of the blade.

I believe you are observing "early lockup" on your Mili. This characteristic seems to be favored by most here on BFC

You mean like this?

Exactly what I mean. Thats normal design?

It's a bit early compared to most but it didn't fail with pressure on the spine and some use. After a couple hundred openings, it's now at full engagement and shows no sign of premature wear. So I'd say your good to go.

Like the others, said give it a bit of a break in period and you're golden.

And +1 for anything Military related  It's my favorite knife.

Mine locks up where the left side of both the lock and the blade are lined up...looking down at the edge. Yours is locking a little early I suppose but with time they move to the right...so as it break in it will move a little right. The Military has the super strong, heat-treated liner steel that is second to none so I think you're fine.
