I recently purchased this knife used in mint condition. The blade doesn't open very smoothly (not as smooth as my paramilitary). I tried to loosen the pivot, but this resulted in too much blade play and caused the blade to be off center.
Any suggestions?
Also, it came in a Spyderco box but there was no label identifying the model number. Not a factory second, hopefully.

It's not a factory second... the are marked on the blade. I really liked the action on that one... actually my favorite ever! I use fluorinated grease which is pretty viscous... I really like it... Miltec1 is MUCH more slippery... give it a shot... If you do a little homework you'll see that this kind of action is inherent in the Military and most folks learn to love it. My offer still stands if you end up getting rid of her.

New Militarys need some time to break in. Just open and close it around 100-200 times or so, at least that's what I did with my D2 Mili. I'm pretty sure the action will improve over time.

"Tri-Flow" is a penetrating lubricant that contains Teflon....good stuff. Much of the solvent carrier evaporates, leaving a coating of Teflon behind.

My s90v military was alittle rough when I got it also.

Open and close it for awhile, it becomes smooth as silk.

Thanks for the advice. I've got some Tuff-Glide. I'll give it a try.
The factory second question was a dumb question on my part. I bought this from Archieblue and it's in better shape than he described. I can't believe it was carried. Looks 100% mint to me and razor sharp!
It's just that it's only my second Spydie and I didn't realize they were a little stiff at first.
Thanks guys.

My S30V Millie is not as smooth as my Para. I played with my father's S90V Millie, and it was not as smooth as my S30V Millie. Maybe with time it will break in.

I let the Millies break in with the factory lube. When they smooth out a bit, I wash the pivot with WD-40 and then use Tri-Flow. Works great.
