I have read where guys are using bigger screws for the Millies. Does this make the knife more rigid, or stronger? What is the purpose?

I just got my first Millie, and I am in love with this thing.

What screws are they replacing with bigger ones?

I know a lot of people like to replace the scale screws with ones of the same length/diameter/thread pitch but with T9 heads, not for added strength but just to standardize so all screws and the pivot use the same tool.

CK, I think it was the scale screws. Are they just a bigger head? Or bigger diameter threads as well?

The ones I've seen are just bigger heads (dont remember the sponsoring vendor but one place/guy posts here that they specifically carry screws in stock length/thread sizes but with T9 heads). There may be people who use bigger diameter screws but that would without a doubt take some modification- different stand off's/back spacer and enlarging the holes.

If done correctly it might make it stronger, but it's already plenty strong as is.

The screws I used from usaknifemaker have slightly larger heads than the stock T6 screws. I think they look better on a knife as large as the military. They are also less likely to strip. They are 2-56, same as stock.
The military pivot is T15, so it's not to standardize all the screws.

I've never needed to field strip my Military, so I've never really minded having to use two different bits.

The only mods that I would do to the Military would be to install stand offs and maybe cut a sharpening choil.
