Spyderco Military vs Benchmade 913 Nitrous Stryker

Can someone who's had experience w/ either knives give me the pros and cons of edc of whatever knife they've owned or carried? I'm trying to decide whether to make a trade or not. The 913 is spear point satin-finished non-serrated. The Millie is black-blade w/ 1/2 serrations on it. For the record a large blade or overall large size is not a drawback to me. Please no fanboy responses, either. I actually prefer Spyderco in general to most other brands for the quality for the price. Also, forgot to mention that I own the Military if that makes any difference.

I've got 'em both, in D2.

The nitrous stryker is one of, if not the nicest looking tactical folder out there. The g10 is very glossy and lustrous, almost looks like carbon fiber. The AO mechanism is really really cool, it's a titanium bar that is integral to the liners, so it is never going to wear out. I've only cut some duck tape with mine, but it did that very well. The blade profile is useful but robust. It rides low in the pocket, and is surprisingly lightweight.

The Millie, of course, kicks a whole lot of ass. It is significantly larger, in both blade size and overall surface area, but it weighs only a bit more. It rides significantly higher in the pocket, for whatever that's worth. Its real strong suit is that it will out slice anything else that I have come across, and feels really good in the hand.

In short, for an urban use, tactical folder for use on man-made materials (tape, clam shell packs, ect) I'd opt for the 913, since it is a more reasonably sized package.

For use around the house or in the field, or for whittling, the Millie can't be beat.

I have owned a Millie (and long for another) and I have played with the Stryker. I am not very impressed with Benchmade's AO's, they just don't feel right, I don't think Spyderco's would either though if they had an AO. Both knives feel great in the hand and are very good knives for the money, but I would have to give the nod to the Millie. I liked the Stryker, but not enough to buy it. Not so with the Millie, I want as many as possible. I am a big Spyderco AND BM fan BTW.

I have owned and carried both and the Milli wins for me. It fit my hand better and the liner lock seemed a little more sturdy to me. The 913 is a little more heavy duty, thicker tip. The Milli is a much better slicer and cutter. I've done a review on both knives. Look in my sig and go to the youtube site if you wanna check them out. Hope this helps!

The Millie is great and so is the Stryker.

They are very different.

I think the AO on the Stryker is one of the best on the market; it's extremely reliable.
Also it doesn't feel as it it's gonna open spontaneously if dropped, or while in my pocket.
Unlike many other AO's I've tried.

The Stryker build quality is excellent with a nice thick liner.
The size is great too and mine came razor sharp from the factory.
And it's light in weight for its size. I think that's because of the titanium liners.

So if you have a Millie already, I'd definitely recommend the Stryker.

I have both (6 Militarys) and never carry my Stryker. I've carried one of my Orange Militarys for two straight weeks now. A record for me ;)

I own both.

I used to like the Stryker. It stayed sharp and is very pretty. I beat the hell out of mine and it never gave me a problem. It still looks good too.

I got my Military a few weeks ago and it's my favorite folder, better than knives costing twice as much.

Get whichever one feels better in your hand, then get the other one (when funds allow) to make sure you made the right decision. Either should be easy to sell or trade.

You should just make the trade and see what you think. The only way to know is to hold it in your hand. If you end up regretting it, just trade for or buy another Millie later.

I own both. Stryker in D2 and Millie in BG-42 (with carbon fiber handle of course :))

I'm not a big fan of both brands, however, I must admit that BM and Spyder produce some of the best folders along with ZT of course. I like my millie better because it offers smoother action compared to the Stryker. Unfolding my millie requires only a little flicking action from my wrist. IF I were to choose, I'd choose to keep my millie.

One more thing. I have close to 30 EDCs, but my favorite EDC is my millie.

Got both.
The Benchmade is very fancy, but it lacks the great ergonomics of the Military. The Military also is a bigger knife, which is something you must consider.
I must add, I've got 7 Military models and only 1 Nitrous Stryker.
The Spyderco Military is (IMHO) the best production folder out there.
