I'm about 5'8" and I like to carry knives that are about my size. Delica Carbon Fiber for instance fits me perfectly. Well my ex-cop boss A.K.A "Donuts" has me rethinking my blade length carry for self-defense reasons.

So I went out and bought a Plain Edge Military. Great knife by the way! But is the Carbon Fiber Police a better carry for a little guy like myself. I know the CF Police would at least be a thinner profile if anything.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Ryan

I'd wait for Paramilitary.

CF Police is awesome, but it is a big knife: the narrower profile doesn't reduce its presence due it its length, which is identical to the Military.

On first read I missed the SD context. Have a look at Lil' Temperance.

I'm also 5'8", and an unabashed Military fan. I carry the Millie constantly, and I've never felt that it was too big (in fact, the Millie is my "small" knife, when my MOD CQD I won't fit nicely in my pocket). I don't think that you can do any better (in that price range) for an EDC SD folder.

I've also owned a CF Police Model and I don't think that it is in the same league as the Military. For one, the CF is pretty slippery - I used to carry a SS Police Model, but stopped just for that reason. If your hands are wet or you don't have a solid grip on the knife, the results could be disastrous, especially since you are carrying the knife for SD purposes. The handle shape of the Police Model doesn't help either, as there is less of a bulge at the front to keep your hand from moving forward on to the blade. Also, the CF Police Model is slightly thicker than the SS model, so as far as comparing the Military and CF Police in terms of thickness, it is a near wash.

The better handle shape of the Military, the grippier G10 and the overall better blade shape make the Millie the natural choice. At the very least, think about this: the Military is a much more modern design, having built upon everything that Mr. Glesser learned in the years between the Police Model and the Military.

I think you already have the right knife - use the money you were going to spend on the CF Police on something else - Civilian maybe?

Like Carlos, I say look at the Lil Temp. It's got a 3" blade, big comfortable handle (G10), tough as a tank. If you like a shorter knife this is a well built one.
The Military is thinner than the Temp, though.

Hey Klesk just wondering.Who is that in your avitar

Is it going to be used for a lot of slicing? The Millie wins hands down.

Is it for "the odd cut here and there" or little belly is required, the Police wins.

SD - Millie has better grip, but the Police has a longer blade.

Wait for the Para-Millie if the Millie is too big.
