Spyderco Military vs. ZT0200?

Two completley different knives in my opinion.

what do you search for in a knife? what do you intend it's uses to be?

Two completley different knives in my opinion.

Big +1. I would add that both are very finely made.

The 200 is very, very beefy. Tank like. If that's what you're looking for, it's a great choice. The Military is a bit more carry friendly.

Both excellent knives. I think this is just another case of which one would you rather carry, you can't really go wrong with either.

The Military is a sleek one (too sleek for my tastes), the ZT200 is a big bull, take a lots of pocket place. Get them both, and you'll be happy! :D

ZT200 is too bulky to serve as an EDC in my opinion, although I like the knife, even more than the more expensive 300's. And it is not a perfect knife with (very) minor blade play and weak retention. Military is light yet fairly strong, excellent retention and very easy to carry. For combat/tactical purposes, it has very long reach although the knife seems to be weaker than the ZT200. Since they are in the same price range, I would opt the Military. And I like the s30v steel of the Military.

What is the retention that you are talking about. The lock bar strength.. or how the steel holds an edge?

For some time I’ve been looking for the best “tank like” folder around the price range of the ZT 0200 I must say that for the price it looks good. Only thing is that would have to work as an EDC and everything I’ve seen says that if may be flawed in this respect.

I have been stuck with the very same problem for several months now. I have carried a Military CF BG42 for about a week and a half and most of the time never knew it was there. I keep it im my rfp of my jeans while at work. The knife although large never felt that way in my pocket, very slim build, great carry. As everyone has said previously the Military is one fantastic knife could not find a single fault in my usage.

The largest knife I carry is a Buck/Strider 889. It is considerably heavier and bulkier in the pocket. That being said, when tucked in the corner of my pocket I can still carry my cell phone in the same pocket and not be uncomfortable. Not having carried a 0200 but have held them before I hope the feeling is similar. Again as said previously the knife quality is beyond reproach.

I do EDC on a regular basis a Byrd Cara Cara, similar in size to the Military, and for 11 hour shifts at work it never is felt in my pocket. I know the CF Military was the same way, I hope the G10 version is the same.

Honestly the decision boils down to which knife grabs your interest more, the large bulky, heavy 0200 or the large more "refined" Military. Just be aware that neither are very sheeple friendly.

I have made a decision that eventualy I will own both, they both have a use in my world.
Just my 2 cents worth!:D

I am not sure if I am using the right term. With retention I mean how solid the blade can be closed in order to prevent accidental opening, e.g. in your pocket.

If you don't need a big slicer, then get the 0200. The ergos of the 0200 fit me a lot better too. I just don't really like the idea of a big knife like the military that can't be "used hard." Maybe it can, but it sure doesn't look that way.

0200.
