Someone in the spyderco sub forum posted these prototype pictures from Blade. No known release date so far, but we know it's s30v blade with titanium framelock attributed to Chris Reeve. The best knife just got better! I think I still like the current Military the most because of the light weight, but sometimes you want a heavy duty framelock. Looks sweet!

(( Images Removed - Permission was not given for these pictures to be posted. ))

is there a hinderer style lock stop hidden under that clip? doesnt look like it, but still.

looks SUPER cool.

Strange, why do I need permission to post pictures? They were already posted on the internet, that's like trying to remove urine from a public swimming pool. The pics are already on half a dozen other knife sites...

I don't know about you're pool, but I'd like to keep mine clean. I fail to see how it's wrong to try to abide by the companies wishes.

Those pictures were never meant to be posted in the first place and should be considered company property as they were not used as they were supposed to be used.

Don't "efff" with someone's business. :)

Just an explanation. I've removed all of the images posted of prototypes and concept models. I waited because I wanted to confirm with Sal regarding permission. Permission was not given for those images to be posted. It was understood that they were for personal use and would not be posted anywhere. It's unfortunate that they were.

We bring prototypes and concept models to shows because we value the feedback that can be gained. Many of our designs need to be felt in hand, so images don't usually do them justice. A concept model may never be made or it might make it to production, but be completely different than the concept originally created.

To clarify some of the comments. The Manix2 will NOT be FFG, it is hollow-ground. We are working on a Manix2 with different materials that may be FFG, but nothing is final yet.

The etching on the Dragonfly hasn't been determined yet. We have a few samples that we're considering and taking feedback on.

The Digicam Police3 is just a concept model.

The Ti Millie is a PlainEdge.

Well, I am a Spyderco fan, but they don't have a leg to stand on, if they put a knife in a public event and not expect pictures to be taken and posted on a knife site such as this one!

perhaps legally, no.

but this is a privately owned forum, and if the mods and spyderco don't want the pics posted, then they won't be posted.

what happens on other forums or elsewhere on the internet should have no bearing on what happens here.

The Spyderco Skunks works then, and not show it to the public, just does not make since to me, bring knives to a public event but don't want them seen in public! Well what ever makes everyone happy, I do think Spyderco has the right to create a knife and show it and come back and say well we really don't want to make this knife, that is their right, in the end spyderco/Sal decides on which knives to make, and it is their right if they want to keep a new knife out of the public eye, just seems wierd to me that they bring it out at blade but get upset if folks snap pictures and show it. Ok! I understand that if they don't want it posted on this knife site then they can pull it that to is their right.

It's really very simple. When you go to a knife show, ask before picking up a knife from someone's table. Ask before taking their picture, or a picture of their knives. It's called courtesy. How would you like to go to a major knife show where cameras were not allowed at all, because courtesy had become a legal argument?

Spyderco only asked that any pictures be kept as personal souvenirs and not posted publicly.
Both Spyderco and Bladeforums are within our legal rights to enforce this, even if retroactively.

A shame we can't see pics, but I understand the reason. Very excited about this though. Sal, Kristi, pls hurry up with the info ;).

Please read my last post, I did say I understand they have the right to pull them if they don't want them here, I have no problem, but lets look at the Detroit Motor Show, many, many concept vehicles are put on display, and it is shown on TV and pictures all over the place, why because it was put in public. I believe Spyderco has every right to keep there new concepts in their Companys House, just my feelings on public stuff!

I've never been to a knife show, but I've known for quite awhile there are some examples Spyderco doesn't allow to be photograghed. They do NOT allow it.

Apparently someone was trusted to take photos for personal use, and they violated that trust. That is the only mystery of this whole issue. Why would someone violate Spyderco's trust like that.

we dont know what was discussed between the photographer (who was not mongo, btw) and spyderco/sal.

perhaps if he had asked for permission it would have been given, perhaps not.

from the thread in the spyderco forum, i gather the latter, but we really only know the photos were allowed for personal "trophies" and they were posted w/o permission.

If I were say in charge of a major knife company, Blade would be perfect to put out your concept models to see how the knife community likes a particular knife or new version of a knife, then you could maybe base the future production of that knife on feedback from real knife guys like the ones who visit this site.
