Well, I got this military as my work knife a few day ago and love it so far. Hav'nt got to put it through too much of a test yet but have used it quite a bit.
Things I love are that it has a great multi possition handle shape, and a nice long blade length. Best of all is it's lightness for it's size. Don't know of many others that can compete with it there. Also love the large hole too.
On the negitive side, it is the dullest spyderco out the box that I've gotten, but worst yet, it has signifigant blade play when openned.
Will definately send it in to be fixed up, but will hate to see it go, and then wait for the return. But hey...

Horizontal or vertical blade play? If it's horizontal, it's easy enough to fix by adjusting the pivot screw. Vertical is another matter altogether, and should be sent back.

Sharpening is an easy one to, if you have a good sharpener. If not, send it in for a resharp.

It has play from edge to spine. Have had it tightened to where it was very hard to open and still had the play. About to get a sharpmaker I think too. Sounds like most people like them.

I love my military its got tritium incerts:D . Holds its edge very well and slices like a dream, its my left hand man under my gunhammer. I love the large hole and how light it is. Mine does not have blade play but hay if yours does get it fixed and get it back and LOVE IT.

It definitely sounds like it needs to be sent in to the Spydie shop. Vertical play in a liner lock is not a good thing.

As Mr. Glesser told you in a previous post where you mentioned this - send it in.

yep. Goin out in the morn. Just had to keep it around for a bit first. Never delt with sending anything back to spyderco before, but know bm takes forever just to sharpen a blade up. Can only hope this is a little faster, if not that's life- large companies.

Those tritium inserts. Tritium is extra heavy water, and might cause some rust, or at least attract lint. Now titanium is a metal and would be more appropriate, albeit somewhat expensive for inserts.

Cheers, Acolyte.

Actually, Tritium is a radioactive isotope of Hydrogen, used in capsules because the radiation can be harnessed to create a green glow. It has a useful lifetime of about 12.5 years, and is used in many "glow-in-the-dark" type watches.

It's weird that you got a dull one - my Military couldn't quite split atoms, but it sliced molecules neatly into atoms when I first got it. :)

Hi Siggyhk,

Sorry for the problems. Not normal with our Military.

If you wilo send it to us, I'm sure Warrantee & REpair will fix you right up.

sal

Mr. Glesser, I sent it in today and can't wait to get that baby back. I realize this knife is not typical, but I'm confident it soon will be just fine. I also wanted to let you know I had e-mailed your service/warrantee department and quickly got a very nice and informative responce back from them.
You and Spyderco are examples for all other companies to follow.
Thank you,
Siggyhk
