So, I've been MIA from BF for a few weeks now. I kind of hit a lul with my interest in knives. School, work, kids, wife, all seemed to be getting the majority of my attention for a change. So to try to get back into the swing of things (you know, spending money I don't need to be spending) and I glance at some knives on Amazon. Spyderco comes up first. Yuck! What's with the appeal of that Delica? I'll never understand it. Thin. Light. Cheap handle... forget it! Don't even get me started on that ugly Endura.

Well, maybe I'll just look a little more. Say, that Persistance is looking nice! Not like that ugly Delica. Who would want such a thing?

Hey, where did that Manix 2 come from? That's an interesting lock. I'm trying to shed some weight, so the 5oz is a little heavy. I'll put it on the wishlist for a while.

What's this? Amazon recommends the Delica? I told you already that I don't want it! All I'm looking for is something thin, light, sharp, and solid. How much does this thing weigh anyway?

Oh, wow. That is light. Well, it doesn't have steel liners. I'm not paying that much for a plastic handle knife. What's that? They added liners? Oh.

I do like VG10.

That 4-way pocket clip sure would be handy.

I guess it is a tried and true model.

...

It will be here Wednesday. The Endura is next.

Has this ever happened to you?

I have gone through that too, though not with Spyderco as I've always been a fan. But there are other makers who have flown below my radar, or particular knives that I avoided, and then something strikes me and I figure out that I like the brand or knife more than I thought I would. We get these biases in our heads sometimes which may not line up with reality.

Sqoon,
Happens to me everyday with knives. The first time I looked at the Spyderco Navaja, I almost laughed. Now, I own it, and it's in my top five favs of all time.
You will love the delica and the endura... I put my money on the fact you will buy a Dragonfly this year also!!! I did
JR

I had similar thoughts about both, tried them out and do like the delica, but feel the endura handle is just too skinny for a blade that size. Good thing they have so many to choose from :D

The Delica is undoubtedly one of the finest knives ever made. I once felt much like you, but I have since married my blue beauty.

I went through that for a long time... Then I got my endura 1 in a trade with a friend and well.... Never be the same....

At first Spyderco was off my radar. Then I found one at the right price, so I purchased it. It was great. So I bought a few more, and another. Now I have one coming in and another on pre-order. Must be a bug goin' around. :D

I was the same way also. I have 3 Delica's now and will surely get more. Light, enough blade for 95% of what I use a knife for and doesn't cause a stir when I bring it out usually.

The same thing happened with me. I thought Spyderco knives looked weird and were priced way too high. Then I started reading/viewing knife reviews and started to think that maybe I should try one out. Got my Salt 1 a few years ago and haven't looked back since. :D

I resisted the Delica for a while and then traded for one. I liked the design and weight but always thought there was a bit too much flex to the FRN model. I replaced it with a G10 Delica and that was my ticket! I don't mind the little extra weight as the knife just has a great, solid feel. Maybe I'll try a new FRN version and see how it feels.

After you fall in love with the Delica / Endura, take a look at the Paramilitary 2... Favorite spyderco hands down.

Stoopid OnTrac guy still isn't here yet!

I actually can't stand the para- but love the delica and endura

Yeah, I just had a look. Not a fan. But, then again, I wasn't a fan of the Delica until about four days ago, so who knows? The Manix 2 is likely to be next, if not a combo edge Endura.
