Hey all,

just came back from the spyderco mini meet in Amsterdam with the Glesser family and had a great time. There were about 80 attendees/knife nuts there, saw some friends from the dutch bladesports event and had some fun talks about knives of course.

There were lots of prototypes we could all handle with some pretty good stories behind them (including the Bison, new prototypes for current revisions of existing models, a bladesports knife), a great explanation about diverse locks spyderco uses at the moment and some in the process of being developed, a great indepth talk about the future of the mule blades and about new/exotic steels and the relationship with the foundries. Also some talk about damascus blades on spyderco's; the future looks very interesting indeed.

All in all loads of useful and interesting information. I'm not sure about what info they want out on the forums so I'll just say it was fantastic that the Glesser's wanted to come over and it was very nice to meet them in person. Sal did a lot of the talking and Eric stepped in from time to time, keeping a low profile; my assumption is that he took it easy today, perhaps he visited some coffee shops yesterday... who knows :) Sal mentioned that next year it was his son's turn to do most of the talking (hmmm, does that mean that Sal will take it easy next year because of the coffee shop visits?:D) Just kidding of course.

I especially liked Mrs. Glesser saying "I retired in the 80's but I am still working" by which she meant they're all just loving what they do.

Thanks also to Jur for organising this event, very smooth and a lot of fun.

We got a great goodie bag also, much appreciated, 3 knives included!!! wow!!! Even if I wasn't an ambassador before, I would sure be one now. I felt they are very kind and giving, reaching out to their customer base and it is much appreciated.

all in all a good day so far, I'll be there next year for sure.

take care, I'm off buying some more spyderco's :)

we need pics! and pics of what you got in the goodie bag too! ;)

It was a very nice gathering of a lot of knifeknuts:D.
A lot of proto's and new models.

There are not many pics taken at the meet.
Mr Blonde took pictures and they can be seen on the spyderco forum.
He will release them from time to time i think.
So no pics available at this time i'm afraid.

Sal en Erik did a good job at explaining all the new/proto's knives.

So thanks family Glesser and Jurphaas for organising this great mini meet:thumbup:.
