was wondering if anyone had one of these...particu;ar;y the drop poiont model, and what you could you tell me about thier performance.

I have a drop point model. Excellent slicer, comes (at least mine did) scarey sharp from the factory. Handle is a little small, but then again, I have big mitts. The sheath has very positive retention, and comes with a large tech lock. Sharpening choil is barely large enough for your first finger if you need to use it that way, but be careful if you do as it is easy to slip your finger onto the edge. Blade is thin (about 1/8") with a full height flat grind. handle is plastic with rubber inserts (FRN with Kraton inserts I believe). Great knife, you won't go wrong with one.

I've got a couple of the Spyderco Moran drop point knives and think they are one of the great sleeper knives on the market. As was noted by BigBCustom, mine also came very sharp from the factory. Not surprising since the stock, angles, and shoulders are decently configured for slicing efficiency. If you come across one below about $55, you've got a good deal on one. Typical web price seems to run in the $65-75 range.

The handles, which fit my rather small hands well, are unusual/non-standard enough to still look funny to me. They seem to be one of those "folks either love it or hate it" items in the knife world. However, I find the handle shape very comfortable. The oval cross-sectioned bulbous shape fills the hollow of my palm and indexes the edge well. I've found the security of grip to be good in my light usage of the knife.

The handles that I've seen that are somewhat similarly shaped (although with an index finger groove) were exotic wood ones on a couple very pretty "potato knives" by Vassili (Nozh2002).

Given that the knife itself is rather compact, I wish the sheath were a taco-wrap style sheath (ala' Eric Noeldechen at On-Scene Tactical) instead of the pancake style with eyelets all the way around the blade. But that's just a personal preference.

(edit to add) Found some links to Nozh's potato knives, just for the fun of it.
