I picked up one of these from a guy on here, and the thing is missing one of the pocket clip screws. He stated that so i knew it was missing when i bought it, and i figured, Spyderco's great customer service would either sell me or send me one.. just to make sure that it was the same as other spydie screws i tried the ones from the Toad (i think, or it might have been the Lum or something) and they fit. So i went to the spyderco site and used to email for to talk to someone and he said to contact Blade Tech, Tim Wegner's company... which i did and have still gotten no response after 5 days. I asked the guy at spyderco if this was the case even tho it was the Spyderco Mouse and not the Blade Tech Mouse II... and he said yes.

So what's the deal? they just don't want to send me a screw? I love my spydies and i have over 30 of them, but this is my first time dealing with spyderco service and the guy didn't give me an explanation as to why i would contact another knife company for a screw for their knife or anything. Is it because the Mouse was something different? After all it uses the same screw so i mean its not that different.

edited to fix grammar

I think I have a screw that will fit.Email me your address and I will send it to you.
Hey I still have your address.I will put it in the mail tomarrow.

Hi Corwin,

Sorry to hear this has been difficult. Please email me your postal address and I will see what I can find on my end here.

[So what's the deal? they just don't want to send me a screw?]

Here's the deal.....Spyderco manufactured the Mouse as an exclusive for BladeTech. They are the sole company to sell them- warranty and repair issues (per their exclusive contract) have to be taken care of by them. Unfortunately we don't keep Mouse parts on hand as Blade Tech retains control of all distribution and sales of the model. We would be out of line stepping in doing warranty work without their permission or knowledge. That is why Mike referred you to Blade Tech directly. My apologies that it wasn't explained to you when you contacted us.

Spyderco uses dozens of different sized, colored and treated screws. Somtimes when models are discontinued (like the Toad) we no longer stock screws specific to a model. I'd be happy to find out what sized screw we used on the Mouse and send you a replacement or the closest we can come up with. Also I'll give Blade Tech a call and see if they stock parts- for questions in the future about this.

Joyce,
Thanks for the explanation.. that clears it up lots for me. It was a bit frustrating especially since Blade Tech still hasn't responded to my email :(

I wasn't aware that the Mouse was solely distributed by Blade Tech.. I bought it from a forum member here. Thanks for getting back to me and being polite despite my obvious frustration :) I'll shoot you off an email!

Welp, Bladetech still hadn't ever responded... and they never responded to my question regarding purchasing a teklok clip either. But Spyderco Pulled through and sent me the Toad screw.

u812: I got your 2 screws as well.. thanks for sending, however they were not the right size.. to small. The Toad screw from Spyderco was perfect. Thanks for sending them anyway I appreciate it!

Thanks Joyce for taking the time to have that screw sent to me!
