Came out of "retirement" to finish this for a trade. I think it turned out pretty nice. 1/8" thick black linen micarta finished to 320 grit for some nice grip. I sprayed it with gun oil to protect the 52100 steel, which darkens the scales until they get wet. Tubes are 5/32" and 1/4" aluminum. I was considering looking up grinder prices and such, again, then that smell of Micarta, grit, etc just made me thank that I've given this up. Someday I'll have a real shop, but until it can be decked out with ventilation equipment and is in a separate building, no more basement shops for me! lol It was fun, though. Not looking forward to the sheath, though.... more pics when it's done.
