Spyderco mule handle attachments?

I picked up my first mule in LC200N. I plan to make a set of scales for it, but I want them removable. What sort of “screws” are best to use? This is my first crack at it, so I’m not even sure where to begin.

Seems like Colby style would be most secure, but that would look weird without sanding them down.
