Sal started pretty interesting effort - Spyderco produce Mule - blade + full tang without scale for about 70$. They are going to produce identical knives with different steel so any can taste different steel in same initial conditions.

I ame vry excited about this effort, but I like to see Buck unique heat treatment be part of this effort. I tested 420HC, CPM 154, BG 42 and CPM S30V so far and quite impressed with Buck heat treatment performance. It will be pretty good if Buck will join this community effort started by Sal Glesser.

Can you guy negotiate this and give us Buck Mules in addition to Spyderco Mules? I think it may be very supported by AKTI.

Ideally it may be open standard so any may produce it - even steel producers...

Thanks, Vassili.

P.S. This is what I am talking about:

I think it is a very clever idea, and I support it 100%!!!

Your pic is of a fixed blade, which Buck has plenty of. I could see myself buying a 105 or 124 "finished blank", and gripping it myself.

The famous Buck warranty would need some disclaimer about these, though...

I'm not such a fan. $70 with no handles and no sheath.

Buck does a nice Mayo in that price range and it's not a project knife.

I like the idea, don't get me wrong, but I think it's a bit pricey for something that is a project.

Keep in mind that the steel helps determine the price. The first one was 52100, and it was $39.
