Hey all I have 3 spyderco mule teams and I’m trying to decide which one to keep for myself. I have the Rex 76, Z-wear, and Magnacut. I will be using this knife outdoors and general cutting of things. Can someone help me understand which of these knives is the toughest and will hold a better edge?

I have tried to research these steels compared to each other but haven’t found much.

Thanks

Rex 76 is quite a beast, they hardness tested at 69.3 HRC, it is comparable to Rex 45/Hap 40 "Voodoo" steel but with increased carbide volume and hardness which increases resistance to deformation and wear over Rex 45.

Zapp Z-wear is an analog of CPM Cruwear, which has a really nice balance of properties with more strength and wear resistance than 3V but less raw impact toughness. Z-wear is similar to 4V although may be slightly tougher and less reactive.

Neither of these two steels are stainless, however, they are not as reactive as plain carbon steels like 1095 and 52100.

Z-wear is also less reactive than Rex 76

MagnaCut is more comparable to the S30V, Elmax, S45VN range except tougher and more stainless.
Hardness is 61-63rc on the MagnaCut mules.
Hardness on the mules I tested were in the 62-63rc range.
