planning on getting a couple new knives, and was wondering what each of ya consider "must-haves"? i have decided definately on the tenacious, and am really wanting the police g10 as well. what others do you all recommend? looking for folders, blade lenght 3-4". other than that, im open to suggestions:D

A rescue of some sort. Might get the wave model and file off the nub. It's a good price up here, on clearance. I am going to get a couple more of the Byrd knives and perhaps a Native. Other than that I'm probably done buying for awhile since nothing really catches my eye.

There's four I consider to be a must have, and will alway have at least one of each. You'll get plenty of diff answers on this one, should be interesting.

I'll always have,
Military
Caly 3
PARA
Endura

I like ALOT of other spyderco's, but use and love all of the above.

Spyderco's "flagship" model (imo) is the Military. I would highly recommend that model in any of the dozen (or so) configurations it has been released in over the years. The common production model is G-10 scales with S30V bladesteel. That's gonna be the most common one, but if you look around on the internet you can pick up something a little more exotic (like BG steel with CF scales) for the same price. With the economy on it's knees, it's easy to find a deal. No matter what version you find yourself with, you'll see why the Military is the best Spyderco model by far. That's opinion of course, but it's scientifically sound opinion. Trust me on this. Score a Mil. Cheers.

forgot to mention! i am a lefty, so, i can deal with a righty liner lock, as long as there is a lefty clip option. that is the ONLY reason i dont have a military by now. cant belive i forgot to mention that. anyway, thanks for the replies. cant wait to here some more.

Stretch FRN and Caly3 are two great lefty users. The new Manix2 is a great bargain of performance in that 3.5" blade tankfolder category.

Seriously tho, take a good look at the new Stretch in FRN as it's a new release and absolutely rocks. It's almost perfect in every way (even amongst Spyderco knives!). The ZDP189 model will be out soon if you would rather have it than VG10 but either knife is a lightweight ergonomic dream-cutter.

You gotta get something in a full SpyderEdge too. Maybe a Tasman or H1 Spyderhawk coming out soon (3.6" of hawkbill lovin) to fullfill the : H1 Rust Proof, Serrated, Hawkbill, criteria. If you like the Stretch FRN, it even comes in full SE!

After a few basics then it's just shameless collecting, haha.

i was actually thinking about a tasman salt. im going to retire the pacific salt into the kayak knife catagory, for cutting bait and such. i have used that knofe HARD for 2 straight months on the chesapeake bay crabbing, and want a kayak knife i wouldnt be heart borken to drop overboard, and get a SE or PE tasman salt for my work EDC. the SE hawkbill should be awesome for cutting wet ropes and scaring sheeple:eek:

The Military Titanium frame-lock is coming out soon I believe.
No pictures of final cut yet that I could find.
I've seen online web-stores taking pre-orders.

caly3 - great ergos, great design, beautiful

a salt - all lightweight, rustproof. I use this for a no-worry, beat-on edc

delica 3/centofante - crazy lightweight edc

tenacious - crazy cheap

and if you want something bigger, endura. I know I'll get flack for this, but IMO it overshadows the para/military based on stats. The blade is .65" longer than the para at .15oz less weight, and only 3/8" smaller than the millie at .6oz less. Plus I'll take VG10 over S30V any day (admittedly I've never tried them in d2). Plus it's less than half the price of both.
