I bought a Native in January of this year.I haven't used it all that much or even pushed it hard, pretty much only opening envelopes and packages.Otherwise the occassional opening and closing when bored. Then a few months ago,I was cutting a chocolate bar on my desk and felt the blade and the lock rock up and down in my hand.

Upon examination,I noticed the part of the lock near where the boye was sticking up from the handle.I have two enduras which don't have this.

When I tested for blade play by holding the blade in one hand and the handle in the other,I noticed some freaky blade play and lock movement.Enough to say that I think this is defective.

Another thing I've noticed now that I don't think was present when new.Is how deep the lock engages the blade.

Thanks for your assistance,I will be sending it in shortly. By the way,how does one know whether it's a Native is 1 or 2 ?.I know now that the 3 has a different handle. The 4 has a VG-10 blade, screw together construction and an adjustable pivot screw.

The lock cutout on the blade was obviously cut too deep and wide. Those natives were Super knives for the $40 you pay. That is a Native 1, although the original natives came with gin-1 blades.

Native II is all stainless.
