Hello,

Has anyone heard anything more or seen any pics on the next Native? I love the Native design and philosophy but really wish to have one that is FFG and FRN handles with wire clip. I had the Native 5 for a while but since I want the Native for a lightweight edc to compliment my Military the 5 was a little to big/heavy for my needs.

I heard a rumor about a ffg Native with either FRN or FRCP. Anyone heard anything else?

Thanks

it would be nice to see. but I love the hollow ground frn native blade. I've never compared it to a ffg native though.

I've heard a lot of rumors about upcoming versions of the Native, including sprints and exclusives. This is the first time I recall talk of a Native 6. The big scuttlebutt on Spyderco's own forum is that the next forum knife will be a Native in S110V but there has been no confirmation.

Yep, there's a Native 5 coming out that will have carbon fiber scales and a s110v blade. I will own one at the very least :)

A Native 5 with FRCP handle scales (it's like FRN) is coming. I haven't heard what steel will be used or what type of clip it will sport.

This is exactly what I have been waiting to hear. Would they still call it a 5 or would it be deemed the 6?

IIRC These are two different knifes. The one you are talking about is NOT the forum knife.

That has not been confirmed - it's a strong rumor though. If you have proof that it's confirmed, please share it because it would make me very happy.

I don't have numbers or test results but I have S90V Spydercos, S110V Custom at full hardness ( 63.5-64 rc) and a production folder S110V at rc 58.

Personally I'd rather have a rc 60 S90V production folder than an rc 57-58 S110V knife. rc 60-61 or up and I'd go with the S110V every time over pretty much any stainless I've ever tried and that includes S125V.

S110V takes a back seat to no stainless steel that I'm aware of when all the attributes are looked at. About the only thing it isn't is a low carbide, tough, very high sharpness steel like 13V, AEBL razor steels. They are for one specialized job, and that's the only thing they do better than S110V.

S110V in knives like Phil Wilson Customs will really show you what the difference between modern steels with the best heat treat available can do compared to run of the mill production, low cost stuff. It's up to the individual to decide if the extra cost is worth it to them. It sure is to me.

Joe
