Just curious... I see that the CF Native is selling for quite a bit more than the CF Sage... looks like S30V steel on both. Any idea why the Native would command so much more money?

EDIT... I think I was wrong on the steel... looks like the CF Native has a different steel than S30V... would that be why it is commanding so much more money?

BTW, I just found a NIB Sage I with CF for $79 and it now has my name on it! Yee Haw. Should be here next week.

CF Native is made in Japan and it's discontinued. Sage is from Taiwan. Labor is cheaper in Taiwan.
CF Native has VG-10 steel.

Thank you, Jill. I guess all three of those elements really add up to a lot of value for some folks... The CF Native seems to be going for around $135 or so and the CF Sage can be had for around $79. Guessing here, of those, would the biggest factor in the pricing difference be the discontinued/collectibility factor?

It's really interesting that Spyderco has set up at least four separate factories... Golden, Japan, Taiwan, and China, with relative pricing to match. One might think that two might be fine, or three for hi/mid/low pricing, but four is really interesting. Have to wonder if the Japan factory might be slated to drop as I understand the Taiwan quality is possibly as good and China not too far from that... just thinking out loud, so to speak.

Apparently many of the Seki makers are going through some changes with retirement and the like.

IMO the Taiwan maker that is doing the sages and the Gayle Bradley is the highest quality right now.

I've heard the same from others. I'm really looking forward to my Sage 1 (Taiwan) and Tenacious (China) arriving next week! It will be interesting to compare them.
