Picked up what I thought was a bargain at a local military surplus. Paid 40 bucks for what looks like a spyderco native with cpms30v. It has no pocket clip though. Wondering if I got a fake or not.

pics would help....on the side with the spyderco logo it should read "SPYDERCO CPMS30V" and on the other side "Golden Colorado U.S.A Earth" and as long as theres a place where the pocket clip would sit it should be real.

hope it helps!

I have one so I think I could probably point out a fake if you had a picture.

Did it have the holes for a clip ?

The FRN version was around $75 new I think. Its likely real, but maybe carried. Do you have a pic?

Yep, if it has the above I'm sure its legit.

here's some pics of mine for reference.

Thanks can't upload pics right now. It's got a satin or black finish and is spydyedged, I think that's what spyderco calls it. Looks same as the pics above tho as far as markings.

Sound legit to me! They do make a black blade/spyder edge model.

should be real, strange about the clip, though. you can find them online from respectable dealers in the $55 range last I checked. A plain edge native was my first Spydie, a great knife. Before I blew out my knee it was my dedicated running knife too.

They've gone up a bit recently, the older Natives are around $70 most everywhere online.

If it s a "one off" formerly display model, then it is probably legit. If they are selling a stack of them without clips or boxes, then you got taken.
