I received this knife from Spyderco after I posted a request to Sal of Spyderco. I asked if we could do a passaround of the knife as I read so many damning posts about the Native BRK.
Well This IS a knife. The lock is full coverage. The blade is 3 1/8 inch knife overall is 7 inch.
There is no play to the blade. Blade opens in a snap and is very smooth.
I do not like combo edges and lately I've been moving away from serrated as my EDC. The Native is the first and perhaps only blade with a combo edge that I'd buy. This is because of the use I put it through :) The edge is mostly serrated with a 35/65% split PE/SE. The blade was nice and thick for all my uses with no flex or bending. The clip is black , I wish they were all black, less noticeable to the masses :) The clip is blade up. and rides low in the pocket. I carried the Native clipped in my right pocket and in my tool pouch both opened and closed, clipped near the electrical tape.
The Knife is light for the solidness of the blade. This I like a lot. Weighs 69 grams or 2.4 ounces.
Well what did I use the knife for?
The usual: heater meal pack opening, letter opening, cutting cheese and apples, cardboard boxes of too much stuff I ordered, Industrial carpet, lots of it.
HERE's where it really stood out as a performer. I was putting hihat lighting in a basement area and figured I'd use the Native! What the heck this is a tryout of a quality blade, Right. Certainly!! :) My Romex cable stripper wasn't working worth a farthing :( Damn cr@p nowadays.
I used the Native to Skin Romex sheath 12 and 14 2 and 3 wire. The NATIVE PIERCED THEN CUT THROUGH 30 YEAR OLD REAL WOOD PANELING WITH 3/4 SHEETROCK BEHIND IT. The paneling was 5/16 nailed not glued. Thank God! And sheetrock is murder on blade edges!
The native went through this much better than my sandvik saw.
I cut large holes in the walls and used it in the ceiling cutouts where ther was no paneling. This is my first appreciation of a combo edge and one that is mostly serrated at that.
At the end of the job and just before I passed the Nartive to the next guy I touched up the blade on my gatco dogbone diamond. Yes a little nothing of a sharpener. The blade hardly needed it. MUCH to my surprise.
And more surprising the tip of the blade is not broken or chipped. It is still piercing sharp.
This is not abuse of the blade as I used it as I would have my own. But this performed better for these jobs than any single blade in my collection :) :)
Specs of the blade are here
This is a blade to give serious consideration to.
I was able to use this for two weeks and it performed admirably. Beyond my expectations!!!
Thanks a lot Sal of Spyderco for this opportunity.
Passaround is currently on Knifeforums. When it's done I plan on moving it over here :)

Very good review. I too am enjoying the use of my Natives at work (haven't had the opportunity to cut anything tough, like you did). Glad to hear it held up well.

So.. the C41G5 has S35V
If I'm reading right the C41GP5 also has S35V but the picture on this site clearly shows S30V on the blade. The weight is also considerably different... almost a full ounce. I'm wondering if Blade HQ is just a$$ed up and doesn't know how to read.

So... are there G10 Natives with 2 different blade steels?
