Possibly going to purchase one today. Going to go out to Borders to read then stop by Walmart when I'm done. Anyone have any thoughts on the Walmart spyderco Native? What Blade steel are they using in them? Thanks.

Normally I do that, but recently I've been getting a lot of bugs with the search engine at this site. Ah well, thanks either way, it helps.

I have one with me today, I'm a big spyderco fan and this one measures up to the usual great quality, scary sharpness and at low low prices. (sorry couldn't help myself :) A great EDC.
Go get it!
cheers,

==>Dave

Yeah, it is sharp. When I handled one last time I accidently cut myself. :)

I'm really inclined to go pick one up, I'm just kind of having trouble justifying it. I could buy a new skateboard deck with that money (That's the wooden part you stand on), which I know would see much more immediate use than the blade.

Oh well, I'm not very logical anyways. I'll probably have one when I get back, heheh. Just gonna go double-check the ergonomics and how easily it opens for me. Last time I tried opening them, it seemed like the hole was a bit sharp and the motion you make with your thumb is rather large, making it clumsy and difficult to open in one swift motion for me. I have large hands too.

I recently picked one up, love the design and may post a review after I've used it some more. The ergonomics are great, many good features.

My only criticism is the S30V seems a little more prone to chipping than Spyderco's VG-10, for example .... but I haven't had the chance to tweak the edge geometry, just a full resharpen at factory angle -- 12 degrees per side, which is great -- to clean up and polish the edge.

It seems a very good value, all things considered.

Bot a bunch. One of the best bargains going in the knife world. Thank you Spyderco, way to go. I hope it is a success for Spyderco. Gave most away over Christmas to loved ones. Have two. Never carry them. Closet queens, waiting in wings.

Like the S30V blade steel. Like the tip up. Love the black clip with bug imprint. Like the spider-web imprint on the handle. Great thumb grips on spine of blade. Like the lock back (with boye dent), but look at as many as it takes to get the best luckup. Love the finger choil, terrific for blade control for say whittling.

All were perfectly sharp out of the box and very pointy.

Best,

oregon

recently i chipped the tip on mine and went to a cutler to have it fixed. the guy that usually mans the grinders, does an excelent job. but this time there was a differnt guy there. and the bastard put the tip back by taking the edge up instead of the spine down. and to add insult to injury, he burnt the tip.

anyways when i got back to sunny SoCal i went to my walmart to pick another one up. picked out the best one but noticed that the clips are a little crappier than they used to be. they are not as well shaped(bent) and they have a matte finish instead of the glossy smooth.
but the knife is still good. IMO not as well as the first-run batch but close enough to get the cigar

Search engine FAQ

I know how to use it, it's just whenever certain words are in the input field I get a blank page. I'm a certified computer technician so I do have a fairly decent grasp of what's going on, not to say I'm omniscient :P

I love the ergonomics of the NAtive, but I just wasn't feeling it. I handled it some more today but didn't buy. I handled a Kershaw Vapor 1 that was a nice little folder for a mere 18$. Seemed well made, I might pick one up. As nice as the NAtive is, I just didn't have that feeling you get when you pick out something and you know you want it. Whether it's a car, knife, smoking pipe, skateboard....:P

I've decided against mini-griptilians as well. As nice as Axis lock is, I think I'll hold off and get a different Benchmade. Mini grips weren't doin it for me either.

Don't know what it is about the Native that bugs me. No steel liners but it felt stiff enough for me. I love the ergonomics, size, weight, blade shape, finger choil etc....but for some reason it just didn't click with me. Who knows. Guess my 40$ is going to skateboarding for now.

The link above explains why this happens and how to avoid it.

And here I was thinking that computer techs are the first guys to tell people that they should read the FAQs... ;)

Vivi use google search with it. the current search feature gives me problems most of the time, even with specific searches.

Anyway. the Spydie Native is great. have a look at the manufacturers -> spyderco forum too.

Or you could just read the FAQ...

done and still no solution was found. I still have the same problem and have thus far been unable to resolve it. It's no biggie though, most info I need here I can easily enough find.

To quote from the FAQ...

The important thing to remember is if you include a word in your search terms that's too common here the search function will be overloaded.

That means that you need to use a more specific keyword or try one or more of the options that help you narrow down your search (explained below).

For further details, just read the FAQ...or is your problem different from the "blank page"/"page cannot be displayed" error message? If so, I guess Spark (the admin) would like to know about it so he can fix it.

This has happened using more obscure words. The FAQ didn't seem to have anything covering it. I'm using the latest official build of Firefox and sometimes when I search something it goes to a blank page for me and doesn't load anything. I'll try re-creating the problem and seeing if I can figure anything out or notice any patterns, or even what exactly I do to cause it. That way maybe I can help :P
