I've gotten rid of parts of my collection to fund a foray into more expensive production models, some Spydercos included, like the discontinued Police with G10 handles for instance. Anyway, I've owned the 440A Native, and recently as of last year, the S30V Native from Walmart. I just bought another S30V Native from Walmart, and wanted to thank Sal for bringing a premium steel to the masses, in the form of a 40 dollar knife. With the S30V model I had bought before, it had severe blade play, and instead of sending it in to Spyderco, I returned it to WM. Over the past several months since I returned my Native, I have been occassionally stopping by the sporting goods counter of my local WM, and looking at the Natives. A lot of them had blade play, so I never picked one up, again forgetting that I could send it in to Colorado. Finally picked up one last night, and it had great lockup, beautiful blade etc. No problems. The counter clerk said that he hadn't heard of Spyderco till his store started carrying the Native, and that now, that store was having a hard time keeping them in stock. He said they were one of his top sellers. Sal, thanks again for offering a folder with premium steel to the market at such a great price. Makes you step back when you're going after the premium priced stuff.

I'm happy with my Walmart Native. It has a great lock up, great ergos, and the initial chipping with light use has gone away after some sharpening sessions. I almost bought a few more on Friday when I went to the Windsor Walmart, 1 of the 2 local Walmarts. They had it marked as $20, but they were all out. I had them check the other local store, and they were still the regular $40. The girl behind the counter said they may have been liquidating the stock in that store and that they probably wouldn't be carrying it anymore. Oh well, if I had been a couple days earlier it would have been a real steal.

Nothing wrong with a $40 Native. I bought one, and happen to love it. I did bead blast my clip and screw since it started showing wear from me carrying it all the time.

Hi SilentHunter,

You are most welcome.

Thanx for the kind words. sorry you had difficulties with your first tries.

We think we've got it down.

Actually, it was Wal-Mart's idea to carry the Native.

Hehe, I must have the WM Native that travelled the furthest. Got mine for Christmas from a very good buddy in Missouri.
