Well, this is a rather embarasing story to relate, as I have never done anything this irresponsible before in my life, but I recently lost a Delica. My guess is that when I got out of my car I caught the clip (I was carrying in my left pocket after deciding it was a real pain to draw the knife when carrying it IWB) on my coat and the knife fell into the snow so I didn't hear it hit the ground to know it was missing later. When I realized the knife was missing a few hours later I retraced my steps but was unable to find it.

Anyway, my question is how all of you carry your knives, and are there any aftermarket clips that do not have the angled bit on the end to catch on things?

I don't know of any aftermarket clips, but I guess you could maybe grind the angled part off without much trouble. Truthfully, comparing the number of days that I carry a knife(365 days a year) compared to the number of times I've snagged or bent a pocket clip(5 or 6 times) I don't think it should be much of a problem. Just try to keep from brushing up against objects that may snag them. Also, if you put it in a pocket, make sure the knife is kind of snug against your body. I've found with a couple pairs of pants, the top of the pocket slants down quite a bit, and they aren't as tight, letting the knife stick out a little further.

By the way, don't feel embarassed, everyone's caught a folder every now and then. Nothing irresponsible about it either. I can remember when I caught the clip of a CS El Hombre on a stove. Don't ask me how I did it because I searched everywhere for something that could have snagged the knife without success. Then when trying to bend it back to shape I broke the clip. Imagine the look on my face then. Haha. Have a good one.

Hi Rakekniven. Welcome to the Spyderco forum.

Sorry for your misfortune. I found a knife that was lost in the snow. But it took several weeks for the snow to melt before it was visible.

I have that experience. I feel your pain. I'm sorry. Just hope that it will someday find its way back into your hand.
Sorry,
Matt
