Finished up this scale this morning for the Spyderco Nilakka, left side only. Really love this knife but not so much the scales. This is my third scale I've ever made and would appreciate some feedback/tips. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Thanks.

Looks like your Micarta skills are improving! Good job.

I like to shape the scales so that the lines from the layers of fabric have smooth flowing lines. I usually do my rough shaping with a belt sander and Dremel. Then I use files for the final shaping. This permits me to get the fabric contour lines just how I want them.

Don't be afraid to play around with the shape and contouring. If it gets messed up, just make a new one. I tend to make my replacement scales quite a bit thicker than the factory ones. This lets me make generous bevels and put in a palm swell. I like the way the thicker handle feels especially when i use the knife for an extended period of time.
