One final question from the Pros before purchasing.

Which has the better blade for an all purpose hunting knife, Spyderco Military S30V or Kershaw Blur S30V? or Which would you prefer and why?

Thanks in advance.

I'd take the Kershaw Blur S30V anyday over the Spyderco--Better blade shape, better grip shape, Blur has a quick, assisted opening, Blur has a non-slip grip, and it's less expensive.
Also, you get the best warranty in the industry.
I'm sure some spydie fans will pipe up though

I am a big fan of the Blur, but I will have to give the edge to the Military for a hunting knife. It has an open construction for easy cleaning, it is very simple with no springs/extra parts to clean or break, the full flat grind cuts better than that of the Blur, the blade shape is easier to field sharpen, the G-10 is grippy all-over whereas the inserts on the Blur are the only traction you get. The Blur is actualy closer in size to the Para-Military. The full size is a very large knife. Just get both, they are great knives to have.

Spydie fan here, the Military is brilliant in its design, light weight for the size, nice curving edge, flat grind, the G10 is very grippy, original assisted opening-the hole:D I think Sal & Co.are right up there as far as warranty goes. Lock up couldn't be better, I have never had a problem with mine, and I use it hard. I do not have a Kershaw, but I do believe the knives are good and yes, they stand behind their products. Either way, it seems to be a win win. Good luck:)

Not really comparable. The Military is a significantly larger knife and very differently shaped.

Because of the sharper tip, the slighly negative rake angle and the much more contoured handle and the G-10 handle and the hard-to-beat weight-to-power ratio, I would have to go with the Military hands down. But that doesn't make the Blur a bad knife at all. The Military is just one very mature and proven knife design. A true living legend.

You hit the nail on the head HoB. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
I have handled one Blur at Wal-Mart and it is a good knife, but I would definitely go with the Military here. The size is not an issue really as the knife is so light you hardly notice it's there. Lockup is great and it's just so easy to use. The G10 Spyderco uses is super grippy. Tremendously strong folder. An icon of a knife to say the least.

There are differences but they're both good enough that I'd just pick the one that felt best in my hand, and suited me more. I think both are can't miss knives. Joe
